"As I understand it ePrint and AirPrint are 2 very different techniques for printing."

This is only partly true.   While they are 2 different technologies, AirPrint is implemented to print to ePrint enabled printers.

The CP1025nw was advertised as an ePrint printer, thus would work with AirPrint if it actually was an ePrint printer as advertised.  Instead, when you get it home there is a note in the box that says there will be an update to add ePrint support.  When I got mine a couple of months ago, the note said "by the end of 2010".  It's now 2011 and according to the HP employee on here who oddly isn't speaking for HP on this matter, we're now looking at mid 2011 to get a feature that the printer was advertised to support, which is the primary reason I bought it over competing printers.

At this rate Apple will likely support printing to it without ePrint before HP implements ePrint (assuming there is a working mac on the same network as the printer).  Under that same assumption, it, and any other printer can be made to work with iOS devices by installing Printopia on the Mac.

The eprint center will NOT accept the printer code for eprint. on the 1525nw. WiFi from any computer on the network and Airprint from an iPad works ok.

Actually ePrint is not the same as AirPrint. ePrint is HP developed, while AirPrint is Apple developed.

ePrint capable printer is not necessarily AirPrint capable.

The Mac link for the 1525nw does not work (it does not exist) ... you need to go to the support area to download it.

More anti Mac crap.

The Mac link for the 1525nw should be working now.  It was working and an update was posted that broke the link.  That issue has been resolved.  The link to the firmware upgrade location is www.hp.com/go/eprint.  Select the 1525 Color Printer Series and then select Mac.

The 1525nw link to the ePrint/Airprint for the Mac does not exist. You need to go to the HP printer support download link (if you can find it).

I wish I had read this before I went ahead and bought 1025nw.  I wanted to buy the 1525nw but I wanted something smaller and so the saleman suggested the 1025nw.  He said it had e-print and hence AirPrint will work.

Ofcourse, I come home and now find that we need to upgrade the firmware to have eprint capability.  When I go to install this, I get the notice telling me that they will inform me one the upgrade is available.

This is false advertisement for sure........

Very dissapointed with HP.

Hi mikelet,

I have confirmed that the LaserJet CP1525 has a Windows and a Mac link on the website www.hp.com/go/eprint.  Clicking that link will run the download program that will update the fw on the CP1525nw.  You can also go to hp.com under support and drivers and navigate to the correct driver.

Thanks.

Hi MrPrinceAD,

The solution for the 1020/1025 isn't available yet.  I know work is being done to make ePrint work on the 1020/1025 product series but issues remain that are preventing the release of a solution.  I will update this post when I have more information on an availability date.
