HP P1102w
Android 5.0 Lollipop

When trying to setup printer on Galaxy Tab5, get error "Unable to communicate with printer" via setuyp with HP Print Services Plugin, however i am able to setup and print via the "HP All-in-One Priner Remote" app (V3.4.211)

Details:

Galaxy Tab5 running Android 5.02

Printer HP P1102W connected wirelessly (other PCs on the network print fine to this printer)

Setup:

Samsung print Service plugin (Off)

HP Print Service pluging (On) - re-installed three times

The plug in seems to identify the printer type correctly (It shows as "HP LaserJet Professional P1102w"), when "adding a printer" via "Wi-Fi Network", I enter printer name and IP address (I've confirmed this is the correct IP, can see/ping ip via "Fing") and continually get the error "Unable to communicate with the printer".

I've power cycled the printer and the tablet multiple times.

any assistance appreciated.

Tom

Hey @Tom_nyc

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.

I see that you're unable to print via the HP Print Service Plugin when using your HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer. I would like to assist you with this. I have some tips that might help.

From what I can see in the documentation, the P1102w is compatible with Android 5.0.  Troubleshooting-wise, there's not much else you can try other than uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Print Service Plugin.

As a work-around, you could print via the HP ePrint app. There's a couple ways to do so (using the printer's wireless connection or enabling webservices), but you will find the official setup instructions here. You can click here to install the HP ePrint app.

Let me know if this helps. If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below and clicking to accept this solution.

Have a great day!
