HP P1606dn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer is suddenly not working today with my Win10 PC.  It says, "Attention Required" on the Devices page and in the queue manager.   I deleted the printer and reinstalled - no problems with the install but I get the same error when I try to print.  I can print from my iPhone and Apple computer, so I know the printer and network connects are OK.

When I try to print, I also get a message window that slides out from the lower right side of my screen that says...

"NPI8D6FA1 (HP LaserJet Professional P1606dn) printer has a problem that requires your intervention"

There is a green check on the printer in Devices and Printers.  When I right-click and go to Properties, it says "Device status: This device is working properly".

I have two Win 10 PCs.  I have the same problem with both of them.  But I found if I restart the spooler from the Services menu, it will print everything that is spooled up.  Then the problem returns.  So, restarting the spooler is a work-around.  I tried deleting and reinstalling the printer driver and spooler driver - same problem.

Anyone know the solution to this?

Run any Windows Updates.

Clear the Printer Spooler Files and Enable the Spooler Service to see if this will help.
1. Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type Services.msc .
2. Double-click Printer Spooler in the Services list.
3. Click on the Stop button and click OK.
4. Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type"%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers, then delete all files in this folder.
5. Go back to services by holding down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type Services.msc again.
6. Double-click Printer Spooler in the Services list.
7. Click on the Start button. In the Start up Type list, make sure that Automatic is selected and click OK.

Please try these steps to see if it will help resolve the issue, HP Printers - Print Jobs Stuck in Print Queue (Windows).

Make sure you also try the Step 5.

What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)

If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know. Thank you.

I have the exact same issue.  I removed the printer, completely removed the drivers (printui /s /t2) , rebooted the machine, reinstalled the driver and still get the

Capture.JPG

I followed the instructions above and still have this issue.  Windows 10 has rendered my printer useless from my PC, while my wife's laptop on 8 works just fine.

Greetings @ichthusag,

Thanks for accessing the HP Support Forums for extra support! I see that you are experiencing issues printing from Windows 10. I will do my best to assist you with this issue.

If you haven't already, please run the Print and Scan Doctor. Let me know the results.

If the issue persists, try the steps in this document: 'Offline' Printer Status Message Displays (Windows 10).

Is the printer networked?

If you have a valid IP address for the printer then try and access the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
Type the IPv4 address into your web browser's address bar. (Internet Explorer)
If it loads the page, then the computer can see the printer over the network.

Let me know the outcome.

If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. Cheers!

I have the exact same problem.  HP 1606dn printer connected via network.  I can ping its IP address and surf to the management page.  If I restart the spooler, it will print properly.  Also, if I press the "go" button, that will usually kick-off the print job as well (after wasting a piece of paper printing the demo/status page first).

It wasn't always like this.

I don't have any problems using a Canon Workforce 845 printer.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer.  That didn't work.  I also used the Print & Scan Doctor.  That didn't work either.  Would love to hear additional troubleshooting steps.

Hello @hidden72,

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are having issues printing over the network. Thanks for providing that detailed information. Restarting the print spooler or pressing the Go button on the printer will allow the printing to continue. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

I would suggest trying some of the steps listed in this document:  Print Jobs Stuck in Print Queue.
Clear the Print Spooler and restart the Print Spooler. This information is listed on Step 1: Delete job files and restart. There might be some print jobs hung up causing this issue.

If the issue persists, setup a Static IP address for the printer to rule out a connection issue:  Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection. Disregard the title. Go to Solution four: Assign your printer a static IP address. I would also update the printer's firmware. The steps are listed on Solution five: Check for and install any firmware updates for your printer.

What operating system are you using?

If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. Cheers!
Let me know how you make out. Thanks!

I'm using Windows 10 (64-bit).

I had previously cleared out the spooler, and it already has a static IP address.

That being said, I deleted the printer from Windows, re-downloaded the full driver installer (http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-LaserJet-Pro-P1606-Printer-series/4110408/model/4... and reinstalled.  It seems to be working properly now.

Hopefully that helps anyone else having the same problem.  Cheers.
