HP OfficeJet Pro 8740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought the HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 and I have been unable to find a way to print borderless 4x6 photos, or any borderless photos at all so far.

I have the most recent drivers and have tried all the settings in both the Windows 10 printer settings and also on the actual printer touch screen. I have edge to edge selected on the actual printer, but it doesn't change anything.

I thought maybe the printer can't handles borderless printing, but I checked the product documentation and it apparently can do this. I also looked at the product page and have copied what it says below:

"- Borderless printing: Print borderless 4 x 6-inch photos and documents up to 8.5 x 11 inches."

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP forum.

Can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for your operating system:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8740-all-in-one-printer-series/7902...

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

Can you try to print borderless again after you have installed the FULL feature software?

Hope that helps.

Hi,

I had already installed this, as well as the specific drivers that are separately listed on the model's page.

I can print and scan just fine, as well as print in many different sizes, but borderless printing is not an option.

I have attached an image of what my choices are. Hope you can help...HP.jpg

I just put a photo on a USB drive and connected it to the printer. I then set the setting "edge to edge" and the photo printed without a border, so now I know that the printer will do this.

I still dont have a solution to how I can print from the computer without borders however.

Hi pierce3215,

Have you tried

under same page of setting you shown >> printing preference >> Effects >> Resizing Options

select print document on 4x6 >> check "scale to fit"

hope this help.

I am having the same issue and the support from HP is terrible. No one seems to understand what the problem is. I just want to print bordeless photos! Can someone please help?

Hi,

Apparently, the borderless feature for photo printing is not available in the Officejet Pro 8730/40 printers.

Thanks.

I cannot believe this feature is not supported after having spent nearly 300$ for one of the best HP printers.

He is incorrect, it is supported by our printer and even shows as supported on the specifications.

In order to get it to show up for me, I had to reinstall Windows 10, then reinstall the full version of the drivers.

For some reason, if you have a printer setup with its own drivers, then you install the new HP 8740 drivers, it doesnt work correctly. The only way I got it to show the correct settings was reinstalling Windows 10, which is ridiculous.
