This worked for me:
1. go to your printers folder, right-click on the network connected printer that you are having the problem with and select "Properties"
2. when the properties window opens, click on the "Ports" tab.
3. Near the bottom of the Ports tab window is a check box for "Enable bidirectional support", uncheck it and click "OK"
now print something where you have previously experienced the problem. I think this might work for some users.

Ok thank you. I have unchecked it, but I will have to wait to see if it works as the problem was random.
Will it affect any other transfer of info for example the printer telling my computer ink levels and other info or does this function just deal with how information is transferred from my computer to the printer?
Cusrious to how it works and why.

I use a HP Photosmart C4480 conected to my Windows Vista 64bit machine via a netgear FWG114P print server (using USB), and I was experiencing problmes with the bottom line not being printed and also the printer getting stuck at the end of the last page. Printing a blank page afterwards gets the paper out! I haven't got the probelm when I connect to the computer direct using USB. I have improved the situation by amending the TCP/Ip port setLPR Byte count enabaled box.tings. I have used LPT and checked the LPT byte count enabled box. Perhaps it will improve thinjgs for you to!
The only problem I have found iis that when I try to do double sided printing (done manually on this model). The continue page appears almost straiught away and so you end up printing them in a wired order single sided. Any solutions to this would be most welcome. Now I will have to go anjd enjoy the whether as I have spent hours on this and lots of ink - I wonder if HP will send a free catridge?

Having j e-read my previous post, I thought I ought to correct it!

More on the bottom of page clipping:
I'm running Vista SP1 on a HP Pavilion m7100y. My Hp Photosmart C7180 is connected to my wireless router via an ethernet cable. The problem of clipping off the bottom half of the last line (and sometimes more than one line fails to print) has occurred in Word, Excel, Outlook and even the universial Windows Test Page. This morning I totally uninstalled the HP suite of products that came with the printer, Version 8.0.1 copywrighted 2007, and reinstalled from the same CD. I then updated the software with the latest "patch" named "AIO_110_007 dated 4-19-2009 11:54 AM" that specifically says that it fixes this error. IT IS STILL NOT FIXED!!! If anyone from HP is monitoring this message board I would appreciate some action on this problem and some feed back. Over the last 10 years I have probably spent over $15,000 on HP products and this is very shabby way to treat a loyal customer..

Hi HP_User,
I looked at the patch that you mentioned in your post and it says "Print margin accuracy: Resolves issue of last line of text being clipped for HP Deskjet D4200". So, it looks like the margin fix part of the patch is specifically for the D4200.
Did you try disabling bi-directional support?

To CoubBorn, I did as you instructed and the problem is resolved. I still question why HP didn't get on this problem and have Bi-Directional turned off as a default upon installation. I also worry what I'm going to lose by unchecking that box (ink monotering, paper jams, etc). I guess I'll just have to discover them as I go along.
Thanks for your help,
Dave Menser

Since I have disabled bi-directional support the last line printing problem seems to have disappeared which is good. Not sure what other functions I have lost which is not good. Anybody have or want to start a list of lost functions in case HP is trying to sort this out?
