I agree.  This is totally rediculas!  Why are you failing to help all of us with a post?  I need this right NOW, and we should not have to wait.

PLease send me the reset instructions for the HP CP 1525!  I have wasted a TON of time on this forum because of HP's policy.  We need these instructions!

Hi Gemini02,

I followed those instructions to the letter (it took a while) but sadly, still the same.

Falls over after 15% of the install routine.

Hi @wosully,

You also have the option to call into HP Tech Support for the reset, instead of waiting for a reply on the forums.

I can send you that information in a private message.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.

If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. Thank You.

Hi mulreynolds,

I see that you are still having issues installing the printer software.

If you are getting the error after connecting the USB cable, check the Device Manager again for any entries for the printer and let me know how it was listed.

Here are a few things that you can try to get the printer recognised.

Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and the USB cable is connected directly to the computer. (not a docking station) The USB cable shouldn't be longer then 6 feet. Try another USB port on the computer.

Double check that the USB cable is connected to the proper port on the back of the printer. (it has a USB and Ethernet port)

You may have to try a different USB cable. If you have another computer available, try installing the printer on it to see if you have the same results.

Is this a Laptop or a Desktop?

If you are using a Laptop with Windows, check the power management on the computer to see if that is causing the issue. Go into the device manager, under universal serial bus controllers, for each USB root hub, right click and left click on properties, for power management remove the check mark for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".  It allows the computer to limit or turn off power for this device. How do I get into Windows Device Manager?

Here is a document for the printer not being connected, that you can take a look at.

HP Laserjet Products - 'Device setup failed to complete' or 'Unknown device' Message Displays in Win...

Please keep me posted. Thank You.

Hi Gemini02,

thank you for your time and efforts over the last few days. The good news is the printer is working

as a wi-fi printer again.

I was going through the network menu today and saw the WPS push button option and realised our

new router has this option. Tried it and it connected to the network, no problem.

No more need to run through the labourious software installation with a USB cable.

It's now re-installed on my laptop and printing fine. Happy days :generic:

Thanks again.
