I'm have great problems trying to get my new router and old printer connected.  I've looked at the HP website and tried suggestions of pressing the cancel and wifi key on the printer together for 5 seconds and then pressing the WPS button on the router but it doesn't work.  I've also tried downloading the HP Easy Start app but it goes so far and then says it can't find the device.  I have the old software but Mojave doesn't seem to recognise it, so I can't start from scratch which is what I've done before with new routers (pre Mojave).  I've even tried connecting the laptop and printer with a USB to try and bypass the wifi but that doesn't work either.  I'm not very techinically proficient when things like this happen and even a friend who I usually call to talk me through problems like this cannot offer any ideas, so any help would be gratefully received but it needs to be spelt out simply and tell me where I need to look and what buttons to press!  Many thanks.

A warm welcome to HP Community!

I believe we can use HP Easy start application and auto wireless connect feature to connect the printer to your home wireless network. Let's try these steps:

1.) On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button https://support.hp.com/doc-images/162/c02131772.gif and the Cancel button https://support.hp.com/doc-images/824/c01623874.gif at the same time for 5 seconds. (This steps will restore default wireless settings on the printer and enable Auto Wireless connect. Immediately continue to the next step to install the software. You have approximately 120 minutes to complete the software setup using the HP auto wireless connect feature.)

2.) Download and run HP Easy start from here.

3.) Follow the onscreen instructions to connect the printer to your home wireless network.

Let me know how it goes!

I’m having the same problem, connecting my new router to my old HP envy 5530 printer. I’ve printed the wireless network test results and the only thing that “failed” was the “no filtering”. Any suggestions?

@Tomi1959, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I would recommend you to follow the steps from the document No Connection after Router or Wi-Fi Settings Change for help.

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates.

For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
