Hi! @buzzyspeedo,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!
I understand you have issues printing blue ink from your printer.
Don't worry I'd like to help you out.
Are you using refilled ink cartridges or the original cartridges?
Do you get ink cartridges errors on your printer?
It looks to be an issue with cyan ink cartridges try checking with a different cyan ink cartridge and let me know how it goes.
Clean the printhead
The printhead could be clogged, and you might need to clean the printhead several times to restore print quality. Use an automated tool from the printer control panel to clean the printhead.
CAUTION:
Never turn off the printer when ink cartridges are missing. Make sure you replace any missing ink cartridges as soon as possible to avoid print quality issues and possible extra ink usage or damage to the ink system. To avoid issues that require cleaning the printhead, always turn the printer off with the Power button on the printer itself.
Load plain white paper into the tray.
On the printer control panel, touch the right arrow to display more options.
Touch Setup, and then touch Tools. The Tools Menu displays.
Touch Clean Printhead.
Wait while the printer completes the printhead cleaning process, and then touch OK.
NOTE:
You might have to clean the printhead several times to correct the issue.
Refer this article to further troubleshoot Color or Black Ink is Not Printing.
Let me know if this helps!
Have a beautiful day ahead! 🙂

Thank you Mr. Robot for your comments... since I have cleaned and cleaned using the automated processes on the touch menu, it seems my next option is to try a different Genuine HP Cartridge. I have ordered another one. It should n in any day now.
It seems like the problem is corrected by one of the following methods
1) clean printhead via automated process several times including automated deep cleaning
2) ensure all updates; latest bios, etc
3) replace ink cartridge with genuine HP Cartridge
4) clean printhead metal contact using 91 % denatured alcohol using cue tip
5) repeat step 1
6) replace printhead
Am I missing something?
Thank you,
Buzzy

@buzzyspeedo, Thanks for getting back to me so quick.
The steps you have mentioned in the previous post looks to be correct.
Also, try updating the printer firmware and check if it helps.

Hello, @buzzyspeedo
I see that you were interacting with @A4Apollo. He is out of the office today & I'd like to help!
Going through your post, it certainly looks like a hardware issue with the print head. Unfortunately, the print head is a non-replaceable part on this printer. I'd suggest contacting the HP phone support to get printer service or possible upgrade.
You can visit http://www.support.hp.com/contact-hp and fill in your product details to get the tech support number.
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
Let me know if that helps!
Good luck 🙂
