This link is for a firmware update utility, not an actual HP 1600 driver for OSX, so apparently there's still no driver for this printer for OSX.

I have OS X Yosemite v. 10.10.1 and it works fine with my old Color Laserjet 1600.

 

Go to Apple Support, HP Printer Drivers v.3.0 for OS X and download the drivers:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

 

Connect your Color Laserjet 1600 using the USB and select the driver for Color LaserJet 2600, works like a dream 🙂
