Hi dcbydc,

There seems to be a few unofficial workarounds posted here. Most of these involve the use of third party drivers.

Hope you are doing well and welcome to the HP forums,

highwaytravelle; quick suggestion, Your  Laserjet 1600 is a commercial product. I will suggest posting and searching in the forum for HP Business Support for a better chance at finding a prompt solution.

You may find the commercial Laserjet board here.

Hey there. Currently there is not a driver available for that specific printer. I have seen a work around that works for other users. First download the 2.9 HPP Driver pack from Apple: HP Printer Drivers v.2.9 OS X - Apple - Support FYI: At this current moment Apple's Support page is down for maintenance.

Next  select the printer manager for "HP Color LaserJet 2600" from the pop-up list in the config section of the printer software. This should get the printer up and running for you.

Let me know if this helps or you have other questions!

Good day Sean (And Group):

I just wanted to let everyone know I'm using a MacBook Pro 2011 Edition Running OSX 10.7.4  and Seans solution runs perfectly! Additionally, when you go to the Apple Support Site go to the support bar and type in HP 1600 Drivers and that will lead you to the proper link.
