I have had this printer for a couple of months but have been unable to connect to the Instant Ink plan.  I have been through the process dozens of times but it seems that the printer, although wi-fi does nor support web services so I cannot get the code I need to register for replacement inks.  Now the printer is showing that the ink levels are low and I fear they will run out during an important project I need to print.  Can anyone advise what to do, or how I get inks if I cannot join the scheme?

Hello @Ruthie02,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I understand that you're unable to print out the claim code to enroll into Instant Ink. I will certainly do my best to help you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.

Can you please let me know why you say that your network will not work with Instant Ink?

1. What type of network are you using (DSL, Broadband, Hotspot, etc)?
2. Are you connected to a home, work or school network environment?
3. What is the printer's IP address?

Have you tried adding the DNS settings to give the printer better access to the internet?

Please print a wireless test report to get the printer's IP address.

1. Once you have the printer's IPV4 IP address, open your internet browser and enter the IP address in the address bar.
2. Go to the Network or Wireless tab across the top.
3. On the left-hand side click on Network or Wireless.
4. Click on Network address (IPV4 address)
5. From here you can set a static IP address and add DNS settings.
6. On the DNS settings, change it to Manual.
7. For the Preferred DNS enter: 8.8.8.8 and Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4 (without periods)
8. Click Apply.
9. Try turning the printer off and on again.
10. Press the Web Services icon again.
11. At this point, the page should print with the claim code.

If you're connected to web services and can't print the claim code due to being out of ink:

1. Your printer is capable of printing in single-cartridge mode. Please remove the empty cartridge to print with only one cartridge.

2. If you do not have sufficient ink in either cartridge, follow the steps below to bypass needing to print the claim code.

Otherwise, try these steps:
1. Open your internet browser and enter the printer's IP address in the address bar.
2. Go to the Web Services tab
3. Click on the setup option (left side of the screen)
4. Click on the continue option (bottom right side of the screen)
5. Scroll down the page and confirm they have read the information and click on the continue option.
6. If the process does not automatically go to the next page - check to see if the POP-up blocker is turned on.  Either turn off the POP-up blocker momentarily or if you hold the Ctrl (control) button down and click on the 'Continue' option again, it should bypass the POP-up blocker.

If you need further assistance, please let me know the answers to the questions above and what the results were. 🙂
