Why does my printer make copies at a very slow speed? I timed one page and it took 6 1/2 minutes to make a black and white copy. I have done a hard reset, and have ran the scan dr. the issue still remains. Please help it is affecting my work production severly!

Hi @Jenscheible,
6 and a half minutes is far too long for one copy!! I would be happy to help you speed things up! Do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
^ This is not limited to Laserjet printers.
Is it indeed the copy that takes 6 and a half minutes, or is it printing? I ask because you mentioned the Print and Scan Doctor. If it is printing, please try copying and let me know if it is slow as well. If the is copying let me know.
I look forward to hearing back from you and to working towards a solution.

I would look into reducing the resolution of the copies in the copy settings. The higher you have the resolution set the longer it will take to scan the original and print the copy. For black and white usually 300 or 150 dpi is fine.

After three months of working ok, my HP4520 printer has suddenly decided to take forever to print photo copies.
My operating system is Windows 10 so I cannot follow help advised for 8.1.
I am not IT minded so would like a basic and easy solution to the problem.
Help!!
