Hi @dr1600,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed that you are wondering how to get a dash symbol on the keyboard for your HP 4500 wireless printer. I am happy to look into this for you!

I am assuming you are using an HP Officejet 4500 wireless printer, if I am wrong please respond with the type of printer that you are using. To find your printer's Product/Model Number follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number.

According to page 40 of your printer's User Guide, it states: press the asterisk (*) button repeatedly, until a dash (-) appears on the display.

Hope this answers your question, and thank you for posting! Smiley Happy

Thank you for your reply and I will certainly try that. I would like to note, however, that I referrred to a "hard copy" of start up guide received with my printer and the English portion only contained 31 pages. The question is moot, however, because I actually ended up using the CD to connect my printer wirelessly and didn't need to manually enter a router password (which contained the dash). Again, that you for the reply, I'm sure I will need it in the future.
