Yes I have "plain paper" set on the printer. The "ANSI E" setting in the printer preferences is 34"x44". If I have a print to do that is 3"x30", won't the paper feed all the way to 44" before it cuts? How do I set it just to cut on a set margin past the print?

You should be able to select custom and put in any meansurements you want.  Just keep in mind one side of the drawing will be 36" and depending on the other side you will select landscape if larger or portrait if smaller or the same size.
