I have looked at the majority of posts regarding this error, followed HP suggestions, used my own knowledge, and still cannot get past this error. I replaced the front panel hoping it would be as simple as that, but nothing. I then started replacing parts one by one. Interconnect pca, main board, HD, RAM, and gamut pca. I have even swapped the RAM from one slot to the other in both the original mother board and the new one, as suggested in another post. All with the same 08:11 end result on boot up. There are no beeps when powered on, and the screen stays blank (except for the square outline) until the 08:11 error comes up. The green light to the left of the screen flashes green, and the one to the right is solid red. I tried getting in to the diagnostic menu at start up, but am unable to even access that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HP Designjet 4000 Series System Error 08:11.

SOLUTION:
This system error occurs due to the loose connections of the cables & connectors.

Perform the following steps to resolve the issue:
Switch the power off from the back of the printer and disconnect the power cord

Reconnect the power cord and power on the printer .

Remove all the cable connections between Interconnect PCA and the Main PCA.

Remove the cable connections between the hard disk drive, PSU and the Main PCA.

Verify these cables are not damaged and exhibit proper continuity.

Remove the memory module from the PCA.

Remove the Main PCA Print Engine and interconnect PCA from the chassis and wait for 10 minutes so that any residual charge will be totally discharged.

Reinstall the parts and reconnect all the cable connections one by one.

Ensure the memory module is fixed in the slot properly.

When the printer is in ready status, ensure the printer has the latest firmware version. If not, update the firmware to the latest version.

NOTE: For HP Designjet 4020/4520 Printer Series, there are higher chances that the system error is caused by the memory module.
Memory (if required) is the first component needed to be replaced (prior to Main PCA).

This is always a difficult error message since there can be so many faulty parts.

1. Make sure you change the sata adapter as well if the HDD is a 2.5" SATA.

2. PSU is also mentioned in HP's documentation for this error.

Thanks Milo, the new HD did come with the adapter and I installed it. I had no idea the psu could cause this error. Ill look into it.

I have an HP DJ 4520 that also has the 08:11 error code.  I followed all the troubleshooting steps in the service manual to the point of replacing the Interconnect PCA.  The next step, according to the manual is to replace the Gamut PCA.  Before I continue throwing parts at this machine, I was wondering if anyone ever came up with a solution to this error.  Thanks in advance for any help!

I am still working on this issue.  I have replaced the interconnect board and the main board.  It still comes up with the error code 08:11.  When I look at the LED's on the Print Mech board, the 24V and VPOWER2 are not lit up.  Is it possible that the PSU is bad?  Any ideas?

Hi David,

I have a customers 4020 with the 08:11 error and want to replace the memory dimm.  However the part is back ordered from HP for at least 2 months.  Any ideas on something compatable?  Thanks, John.
