HP Designjet T520 36 inches
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I have a problem with my printer. It keeps on saying one or more cartridges appear to be missing or damaged. I just purchased 1 set of cartridges. The black cartridge is okay but the rest are not. It seems that the cartridges cannot be detected by the printer. Any solution please. I've tried to clean the printhead by a tissue and also I have removed and reinstalled it again many times but there was no changes.

Hi,

Make sure the firmware is up to date.

Clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridge and the printhead

Remove the printhead and clean the electrical contacts.

If you still have the problem:

install the old cartridges

If those are reconized, call HP and request replacements.

If you still have the same problem, the problem is the printhead and you will need to replace it.

Best regards

I've done it already but nothing worked, anyway thanks for the reply I appreciate it.  Is there anything else I should do before replacing the printhead?

I had that problem a few months ago, and by replacing a mainboard helped me but it was too expensive.

ANyway, I tried new printerhead but apparently it is also not working, so it may not be in printerhead problem. I have tried also different cartridges but it didnt work also. Im doomed.

Hi,

Did you used a new printhead?

If you did, the new printhead will arrive with a new set of ink cartridges and you will need for the setup. if you use other inks, you could damage the printhead.

Actually thats a printhead that the technician use for his own printer. And what he did is he just soldered some disconnection on printhead and that is the only thing worked. anyway thanks to you and also to that technician.

Hi,

If anyone face the problem for Ink cartridge not detect for one or more and after finish the ink cartridges, in that time you have replaced new ink cartridges but printer given error for one or more ink cartridges damage you just replace the new print head and using the inductory ink cartridges which is came with the new print head. Then that problem will solved it.

I am having the same problem.   I received brand new ink cartridges to replace the yellow and blue (2 sets).   I kept getting a general printer failure message.   After I don't know how many times and combinations of turning the printer off and unplugging it,  finally I keep getting messages about the yellow and blue cartridges being missing or damaged.  I received two new sets of ink and have tried trading the cartidges, but keep getting the same message.  Did you solve your problem?  It has been a long time since I had to replace the cartridges.  I wonder if HP has changed something in the new cartidges?  Maybe if yours was solved you can help me.  Thanks.  Ollie

I have cleaned the contacts and printhead.  I removed the old cartridges when I clean it.  When I replaced them all it still showed the same problem with the two cartridges.  The other two were fine in the printers estimation.    I even put in the old blue one which was almost empty, but I keep getting the same message that it is missing or damaged.  HELP

Where is the best place to get a new printhead?  I am mad because I have not used the printer that much, but have not had problems with it until today.
