When I last printed (from a roll), the paper creased while printing. It stopped the printing and the paper jam message appeared. I followed the instructions in the message to remove any jammed paper, but there was no paper jammed. I unwound the roll and saw the crease that stopped the printing, but there is no paper missing or torn off. I've restarted and unplugged about half a dozen times, but the paper jam message won't go away and I can't print.

Anyone seen this before and know how to fix it?

Hello CZW,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.

I went to the commercial forum to find a solution to this issue and there was no match in the search. There is nowhere for the paper to be jammed in this printer. I have removed the paper roll, unplugged the machine, turned it off numerous times, followed the instructions for clearing a paper jam from the menu and I still have the error message that says "You may have a paper jam". The machine stopped printing in the middle of the job - no other paper was introduced to the machine - how can there be a jam? How do I clear the message so I can continue to print?

Hi!

This could be related to the OOPS (Out of paper Sensor) sensor being knocked out of place or disconnected. This is located on the printing platen, and sometimes can become unplugged from underneath the printing platen.

If the device is under warranty/contract, please contact support for a certified Technician to assist onsite in correcting the problem.

Additionally, there is an Advanced Printing Channel on YouTube which has Designjet service videos which may assist you in locating the jam:

Did you know HP has HP Printer Support videos for common issues?
HP also has HP Advanced Support videos for Commercial Products!

It is possible that the media sensor is damaged. You can probably find the manual for this machine online and there should be a method to go into a test mode designed for phone support where you can't inadvertently screw something up.

While in this mode there should be a sensor test where you can check to see if your media sensor is operational.

You might also want to consider reposting your question in the Designjet forum, this forum is more for printers that print on letter and legal size papers and occasional tabloid size.
