64 bit, USB-Parallel adapter, & no errors when installing the patch.

Just a follow-up to the matter of the 64 bit patch for HP720c series, etc. When I bought a new Dell PC with Win7Pro I had the problem, but found your solution and it worked great! HOWEVER, I then made the BIG mistake of upgrading to Windows 8. It didn't take long for me to disover that, not being a tablet, smart phone, ipad/pod person, I did not like Win8. So, I tried to go back to Win7. It took me and two techs from Dell four tries over a week to FORCE Win8 to release the machine and allow restore to Win7. However, now I can't get the printer to work again, even after walking through all my previous steps that made it work in the first place (thanks to your posts). I saw Alan's comment about printers costing below $100, but to some of us it's the principle of the thing. I know you've closed the book on this matter, but thought you'd like a follow-up. If I somehow manage to work this out, I will let you know.

At last! After three days of trying. I finally got a test page to print this a.m. I'm using a PCIe parallel card and that driver may have been the culprit, even though Device Manager said it was installed and working properly. I uninstalled it and printer and reinstalled both, and they finally shook hands. FYI.

I am glad you got things working again.  I do have a question about your Windows 8 experience.  Did you get a chance to get the printer working in Windows 8?  If so did the default driver work or did you need the patch?

Bob,

No, I never go the printer set up in Windows 8. I had upgraded from XP to Win7 with a new PC, and within less than a month I took advantage of the upgrade option to Windows 8. I was overwhelmed and spent a week with my head swimming just trying to get used to its behavior, layout, etc. Too much change for this old dude. So, no, I never got the printer installed.

Hi, I have a 820cxi printer and I'm using Windows 8 x64, but the printer doesn't print, I tried the x64 patch but still don't work.

It worked, first time, brilliant!

This is just the thread I've been looking for.  I have a Deskjet 710C printer, which works great with my XP desktop, but won't work with my Samsung Windows 7 laptop.  The only problem is I'm pretty hopeless with anything technical and wouldn't have the confidence to try to install the "patch".  Without trapsing through all the pages, is there an "idiots guide" anywhere, or would someone be kind enough to guide me through it?

I'd be sooo grateful for any help ... this has been driving me mad!

Ok. This solution worked great for me. I had a Windows 7 x64 machine and the user wanted to keep his 712C so i installed the drivers and this patch and it worked like a charm but now the user has noticed something. The printer will never print more than one copy of anything. For example, if he goes into word and goes to file and clicks print. He changes the number of copies from 1 to 5 and clicks print...it will spit out 1 copy like a champ but then stops. No errors and no print jobs left. The printer just thinks it is done. This happens no matter what program he tries to print from.

I was just wondering if anybody else has noticed this and if it is just something i will have to live with. It is annoying and I may end up having to replace the printer anyway...any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
