Hi,
Just recently restarted my LaserJet 4345mfp and during the initial boot-up stage it stopped and an a message on the screen read as follows:
Download file now
INFLATE FAILURE
RESEND RFU OVER
PARALLEL PORT
I've never seen this before and there are no functions that work on the machine. This is an older printer/scanner/copier so I've had trouble finding any information on line about this particular message. From what I've read this is a firmware issue?
If anyone can provide me some information on how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Hello, usually for this error, I have had to replace the formatter from this model. If you do a search online you can find ways to an NVRAM init, or even a hard drive clear to see if that will bring the machine back to ready. But most times I ended up having to replace the formatter.

Here are the procedures for both the hard drive clear and NVRAM clear. Try the HDD clear first, then try the NVRAM if it does not work. Keep in mind though, doing these procedures will clear all settings, user configurations, etc.
Hard Drive Init:
Turn the MFP off and then on.
When the memory count appears on the control-panel display, press the right-hand side of the START button until all three LEDs are lit. Release the START button.
Press 5 one time. INITIALIZE DISK appears on the control-panel display.
Press 6 one time. A series of asterisks appears on the control-panel display. Wait for the MFP to complete its initialization sequence.
A hard-disk initialization deletes the following information: all stored copy jobs, the
local address book (e-mail addresses), the speed-dial list (fax numbers).
NVRAM Init:
Turn the MFP off and then on.
When the memory count appears on the control-panel display, press and hold 9 until all three LEDs flash once and then stay on. This might take up to 20 seconds.
Press 3 one time, and then press START.
Press 3 two times until NVRAM INIT appears on the control-panel display.
Press 6 one time, and wait while the MFP completes its initialization sequence.
Performing an NVRAM initialization resets the following settings and information:
■ All menu settings are reset to factory default values, including the fax header and company name.
■ All faxes in memory are erased.
■ All speed-dials, group-dials, and phonebook entries are erased.
■ All localization settings, including language and country/region, are reset.

Thank you! The only thing I use this printer for is to print which I'm hard wired into the printer from my laptop. And to scan documents into a scan folder on my laptop. Sounds like printing again wont' be an issue after attempting the HDD or NVRAM clear, but my scan folder on the printer will need to be reprogrammed I'm asssuming?
I greatly appreciate your feedback!
Thanks
Terry

Am I understanding this correctly that the HDD clear does not impact the info. on the mfp as much as the NVRAM clear?
A hard-disk initialization deletes the following information: all stored copy jobs, the
local address book (e-mail addresses), the speed-dial list (fax numbers).
I only use this machine to print and scan, which the machine has settings to scan my documnets to a folder on my computer. That's it, I don't use for faxing, emailing info. or do I have any specific info. stored. So if I do the HDD clear this might change little to nothing from how I'm using now???
Again, thank you for any feedback you provide. It's been VERY helpful!

Formatting the hard drive and clearing the nvram will not fix the problem.
You need to do what the printer is asking and resend the firmware update over the parallel port.
If you can't find a PC with a parallel port and a parallel cable that you're going to have to buy another formatter.

You can even click both buttons. . .
