Officeject 8610
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

I finally figured out how to get the text to actually print on the envelopes as opposed to having the envelopes print all black.  Now, it prints 2 the correct direction, then the next envelope the text if flipped and printed upside down on the envelope.  Then it will print the correct direction and then it flips again.  So basically, every other envelope has the address printed upside down.

Thanks!

Hi @jenniferb1,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that every other envelope is printing the address upside down with your HP Officejet 8610 running on Mac OS X 10.10. I am happy to help you with this printing issue!

Please, take a look through this guide, 'Paper Mismatch,' or 'Paper Size Mismatch' Error Message Displays When Printing, select Mac, then select Printing envelopes. (Even though the guide title may not match your issue, I believe the solutions will help.)

I would also suggest the following:

How did you get envelopes to print text?

Hi Ketz,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Some questions for you, if you do not mind:

Do you have the same type of printer? Or a different type? To find your printer's Product/Model Number follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number.

What Operating System do you have? Windows or Mac? What version? If you do not know the Operating System you are using, please visit this website. Whatsmyos.

What is the size of the envelope you are using?

What program are you trying to print from?

Once, I know this information, I will be able to do some further research for you!

Hope to hear from you soon! Smiley Happy

I am also having the same issue; standard #10 envelope prints all black, no text. I'm printing using Microsoft Word on a Mac running OSX 10.10.3 printer is a Officejet Pro 8610. Please help!

P.S. the template I'm using in Word worked fine with my old Canon printer.

Hi Ding-A-Ling,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Out of curiosity, what happens if you try using TextEdit instead of Microsoft Word?

Have you tried these steps?

In the meantime, please take a look at page 43, of your printer's user guide.

Hope to hear from you soon! :generic:

I'm not sure how to print an envelope using text edit.?.?. I don't know how I would get the text to land in the correct places for a mailing envelope...

Disk permissions verification shows no issues.

resetting printing system is for issues where you are unable to print to the printer at all. All that does is delete all printers and then you have to re-add all your printers. This printer is brand new, purchased about 3 weeks ago. Freshly installed on my Mac including HP drivers for scanning.

I have no problems printing other materials or scanning.

Hi Ding-A-Ling,

Please, take a look at this video instead of using TextEdit, and let me know what happens:

Just tried what the video suggested using Contacts. No go. Still printed an all black envelope!

P.S. if that had worked it still would be a temp. solution. I don't want to print MY address as the return address and I don't have all the people I'm mailing in my Contacts, nor do I want them in my contacts.

Please let me know what the solution is.

The original poster said he got it to print text, not all black... How did he do it???

Hi Ding-A-Ling,

Thank you for your reply!

Let's try switching the driver. If you are using the HP driver, try the AirPrint, and if you are using the AirPrint driver, try the HP driver. OS X Yosemite: Update or change printer software. As shown in the example images below:

Hope this solves your problem, and have a good day! :generic:
