Microsoft Windows XP

My printer just one day stopped printing. I've tried everything that the support says to do, I've even uninstalled and reinstalled the software and printer like it was new. I got a new usb cord, there's power getting to the printer, the self test page prints, I've uninstalled and reinstalled ports, etc but I still can't this to print from my computer, not even note pad. The error that came up on the self test was 905E00FF Page: 0   I don't know what to do, if I should run out and buy a new printer or what. I even removed the color cartridge and redid the test page. Unfortunately, the test page won't work without the black cartridge because the printer won't print without a black cartridge.

HELP! PLEASE?! Thanx

Hi @christier,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed that you are getting the Error code: 905E00FF, when attempting to print with your HP Deskjet 1050 on Windows XP. I am happy to look into this for you!

I would recommend to try a hard reset, by going to this post, How to perform a Hard Reset, by @Rich1. It is important that the printer's pwer cable is plugged directly into the wall outlet, and not a surge protector. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.

After the hard reset, I would also check for any paper jams, by going to this guide, A 'Paper Jam' Message Displays for HP Deskjet 1050, 1050A, 2050, 2050A, and Deskjet Ink Advantage 20..., and watching this video:

If this does not solve your issue, please call our phone support at 800-474-6836 to get your printer serviced. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. Country-language selector.

Best of luck! Smiley Happy

I do appreciate your help but I will have to call the number you gave me, as this did not work. I mean, it printed from the print button but the main issue I am having is that it will not print from the computer (if I try to print from Notepad or print something from my email), just ANYTHING coming from the computer will not print. Thank you again.
