I can't complete this because there is no driver.  After I right click on my printer (which has a yellow triangle next to it), there is no option for "printer properties".

In your windows, if you click the background of the Printer and Drives folder, at the top there should be an option to "Add a Printer" this should present you with some of the same options to install a default driver.

Let me know!

OK.  The only psc drivers listed under HP are the 1500 and 1600 series.  Should I pick one of them?

Perform the update, there should be an button for it in the window. Check again, if you cannot find a 2200 series driver, then I would just like to check the basic functionality by using either the Deskjet 450 or 9800 drivers.

Let me know if you can print after this.

I tried to istall the Deskjet 450 driver but nothing happened.  I'll try the 9800.

Question - are the Photosmart series the same at the psc series?  I noticed that there are some Photosmart 2600, 2700, 3100 etc series listed.  Should I try one of them?

HP Recommended

Again, while trying to install the printer driver for the Deskjet 9800, nothing happens.

I am going to PM you with additional instructions, follow through with those and let me know what it does. These are very particular instructions, so I have to warn you beforehand that if you have any question - any concern - contact me first. This is very important.

Also, make a restore point as well.

OK.  I have some questions:

under HKEY_CURRENT_USER>printers>settings     there's a file called HP psc 2200 Series

and then a bunch of files under the Wizard folder.  Should I deleted all of these files?

under HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG>system>control>print>printers    there's a folder labelled

HP psc 2200 series (and not 8500 and you indicated).  Should I delete this?

under Devices and Printers, these's no option to remove the device for the psc 2200.  How do I get rid of it?

Your last instruction told me to restart the computer, click and RUN the download instead of saving the file.

What?  Is this for the driver once I'm logged onto the internet again?

Thanks again for all your help.

In the Current User - you would want to delete the registry files, not the folders and only ones that directly reference HP or the printer.

Under Current Configuration, yes that was just a mistype - apologies.

And you should be able to right click on the printer and remove it, or there may be a button at the top of the window.

Yes, when you download the installation file run it instead of saving it.

Let me know how this goes!

Thanks.  I couldn't remove the printer from Devices and Printers because it was still plugged in.

Question - I still have the original hp psc 2200 series disk.  Do I ever want to try loading it again?
