Hello,
Just a query in regards to the event logs on my LaserJet 400 M401n.
I'm viewing the event log from the web UI however it doesn't appear to update.
- is the event log supposed to show a date or time the error came through?
- the list simply shows 10 errors messages but doesn't any indiciation of when they occurred
- the list does not appear to be updating either - the same 10 errors sit in same order which indicates nothing is updating

Yes, relative to the system time configured on the printer. You can configure the system time through the EWS (Embeded Web Server). Some simple printers do not record events by timestamp, instead they record events according to job number. If thats the case then you wont be able to determine specific times unless you are printing through a print server that has print auditing enabled.

I believe I covered this above. Your logs most likley are recored based on job number and not on a system time. You will have to check event logs on your print server or the printers that are connected for confirmation on times by cross referencing printer names and whatnot.

The events in the event log are primarily from crashes and consumable issues. They are not so granular as to record everyday events such as powering on, job information or configuration changes. The event logs are normally only helpful when trying to retrieve error messages displayed to the customer incase its difficult to confirm what happened over the phone or another way.
