Lights are flashing and the error message is "turn power off then on again" even after I have done so. The following lights are flashing: "Power",  "Auto Answer" (Under Fax) and "!" What does it mean and how do I fix it?

Hi sjm3882

I understand you are getting a error to "turn the printer off and on again".

Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a
surge protector)

I have included a document for this error message to follow.

Please let me know the results.

Thanks Gemini02,

Step 3 worked resetting (disconnecting the power) to the printer because I was unable to turn the printer off with the power button. The printer worked for a while but is now doing the same thing. The only thing that has happened since it started working again is that my daughter printed (over the network) from her Macbook. The item she sent to the printer printed but now I have the same error message again.

I Tried resetting the power again but it didn't fix the problem in fact I also got a message that said don't shut the printer down by disconnecting the power.

Any more suggestions???

Hi sjm3882

I would update the printer's firmware to see if it makes a difference. Select your operating system and click next.

If this printer has a external power module with a detachable power cord disconnect it for 15 seconds and then reconnect it also when you do the power reset.

Hope this helps.
