Hey @Namrogeau,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing issues when trying to feed multiple pages through the automatic document feeder on your HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue.
Now you did not specify if you are getting a 'paper jam' or 'out of paper' message on the front panel of your printer. I'm going to provide you with the troubleshooting steps for both issues. Please click on and follow through the troubleshooting steps for the exact error state that is occuring with your product.
An ADF Paper Jam Error Displays on the HP Officejet 4630
The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) Does Not Pick Up Paper
If the automatic document feeder fails to feed paper correctly this does come down to a hardware issue on your machine. With troubleshooting this issue may be resolved. However, if you are getting a communication error when trying to scan than software troubleshooting will need to be completed.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should you still be experiencing issues with multiple pages not feeding through your automatic document feeder be sure to respond to this post with the exact message that you get on the printer. I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!

new scanner question. My 4630 won't scan from adf. it recognizes there is a document in it, but then scans from the flatbed. there are no error messages/ paper jams ,etc. if the problem is solvable thru the software I hope your answer is very detailed. If you tell me to go to a certain file/program/app, please tell me in detail how to get there. don't assume that I know, this computer speak is all greek to me. thanks kgb99

Hello @kgb99,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're not able to scan from the Automatic Document Feeder on your HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer. However, your HP Officejet does recognize paper loaded in the document feeder. I would like to assist you with resolving this automatic document feeder scanning issue.
First, even though your automatic document feeder does recognize paper loaded in the feeder when scanning, can I have you please try a test copy to ensure that the actual feeder assembly is functioning.
How to Copy:
1. Load a blank sheet print-side up, head first, in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).
2. Select Copy from the Home screen on the printer display to access the copy menu
3. Select Start Black Copy and then press OK to make a black or color copy
I have you loading a blank sheet of paper in your feeder to run a blank copy as this will test hardware functionality, but will not waste any ink. A nice clean blank sheet of paper should print out.
Once you have verified that the automatic document feeder works while copying, I will have you check your HP Scan software to verify that all settings are correct.
How to Check HP Scan:
1. Click on the HP Officejet Printer Assistant icon on your desktop. It should look similar to this:
2. When the HP Printer Assistant opens, please click on 'Scan a Document or Photo':
3. HP Scan will now open, check what the Source is set to as the Source is from which area that printer is set to scan from:
4. If the Source is set incorrectly, you may alter it by clicking on the dropdown below source. You will have two options:
Choose either 'Use Document Feeder if Loaded' or 'Always Scan From Glass'. In your case, because your want to use your automatic document feeder, ensure that the Source is set to 'Use Document Feeder if Loaded'. Make sure that your document is loaded in the feeder before selecting Scan on the bottom right.
Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your automatic document feeder scan issue. I look forward to hearing from you! 🙂

Hello @kgb99,
Thanks for getting back to me.
It looks like your HP Full Feature Software and Drivers may not be fully installed on your Windows computer. I would be happy to provide you with the download link and instructions on how to install. However, I want to ensure that I will be providing you with the correct driver download. Therefore, can I have you confirm what Operating System you're using on you computer?
Once I find out what Operating System you're using I would be more than happy to guide you towards a solution! 🙂

Hey @kgb99,
Definitely keep me posted on whether or not a reinstall of your printer resolves your scanning issues.
I am going to include the HP Full Feature Software and Driver download link below for your Windows 8.1 32 bit Operating System. Please click the link to access the download page. When the website opens select the Download button on the top left. When prompted please allow the download to Run. Follow any onscreen instructions to reinstall your printer.

Hello, X23. I'm not sure if all problems were solved but at least I'm registered and the printer icon is on my desktop. It's basically the "solutions center" from the previous unit. Scanner is now scanning from feeder, 1 problem solved. It is sending the info to my documents, not the "my doc's/my scans" file already set up. I know there is a way to change that but I am not too techie with this. Any help will be appreciated, Thanks, KGB

Hey @kgb99,
I am very happy to hear that reinstalling your HP Full Feature Software and Driver package has restored your functionality of the HP Printer Assistant and HP Scan software. Now, in terms of having all of your scans save automatically to a specific folder can I please have you follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open the HP Scan software. Select 'Document to File' on the left. Click on Advanced Settings on the bottom right hand side.
Step 2: When the Advanced Settings open, click on the Destination tab and click Browse on the Save Location section. A Browse window will now open. Select My Documents and choose your My Scans folder. (As a test I just created a My Scans folder on my desktop. The file path will differ for your My Documents/My Scans folder). Once the File Path is selected, select the OK button.
Step 3: You will now be brought back to the Advanced Settings screen. The Save Location will now reflect the new file path that you chose for My Documents in the My Scans folder. Simply click OK at the bottom to save this change.
Now when you scan the scanned documents will automatically save to your My Scans folder in My Documents.
Please let me know if these steps work for you! 🙂
