HP 5510 scan to computer is currently unavailable.

I really need help on this.   I have posted lots of details so if you could look at my original posting to determine what I have already tried, that would be most appreciated.   Here's the posting:

I think you are wasting your time. I too got it to work on an XP machine. What kind of computer do your have? I have a Dell 620i running Windows 7 Ultimate.  If we have a common denominator, that might isolate it to either Dell or MS.

The VueScan software driver purports to run with many different setups, therefore, since it worked for me, I have a tendency to think that it is a driver incompatibility issue between HP and MS. I spent countless hours with HP techs on my warranty time and they were unable to solve the issue.

My advice: Bite the bullet and spend $40 to go to VueScan.

Oh, I do recall reading your other post.   I re-read that to refresh my memory.   So with the device connected USB, you are unable to establish communication by launching the Scanning software from your PC still?

I'd like to examine a couple of items from your system if you don't mind.

If you feel comfortable in RedEdit, would both of you be so kind as to do a registry export of the following registry location (it's the WIA/StillImage devices instances key):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro

l\Class\{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}


Just open "RegEdit", navigate to this key, right click on it and select "Export".    ZIP this up and either email it to me or post to this forum.

Another file I'd like to see is the WIA service log located here:   \windows\debug\wia\wiatrace.log.

Hi:   You are probably right.   The machine that I am installing the photosmart 5510 on is a HP Pavilion slimline with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).   Still not working.

Came right up perfectly on my Dell 8250 Windows XP machine.

Just one more reason why I am all in favor of staying with XP.......

Yep, lets try emailing 🙂  Those log files are too big to post on the forums.   If we find a solution we will certainly report back though.  Thanks for your willingness to try some additional log steps.   I'd really like to understand why so many folks are running into issues on Win 7... this should not be happening (obviously).

Was a solution ever found as to why the scan to computer function doesn't work in win7?  I am still having issues.

Still no solution.   I have been in communication with Jeremy and provided him a lot of info but still no solution.   I will be doing some logging of a scan attempt and will be sending that to Jeremy probably this next week.  Have you had any success?
