This forum thread has at least shown me that my problems are wide-spread.
I have been through several HP printers which seemed to completely lose their "radio" function and couldn't see the wi-fi signal at all.
The 7520 is an entirely new problem, gradually spending more and more time inaccessable for any other device (computer, iPad, iPhone), but completely unpredictable about it. It says it is on the network with a solid 5 bars of reception. But it ain't there.
First, we went to a static IP address four months ago...seemed to help until it didn't. So I would guess that will happen to others who recently tried a static IP address.
Then I did the turn it off, turn it on thing for a couple months...seemed to help until it didn't. Others have reported that as well.
Now, I can't begin to predict. It has become totally variable. Three days ago I printed 200+ photos - no problem. Today, after many efforts to make it work, I can't print anything.
I have been using the direct wireless link from the computer to the printer to print - not going through the wi-fi system in the house, and that normally is an OK work-around. But, there are many things I want to print from web sites that can't be printed when I change the computer to the no-internet direct connection to the printer.
In the last 30 minutes, I have changed the time-out to zero as suggested. No joy. I can't turn off UPnP because I can't get to the printer's web page. (If I could, I could print, of course....)
And I don't know how to turn on Multicasting on the router, but will try to figure it out.
I would guess that all the "fixes" described in this thread will tend to work...until they don't.
After 10+ years of HP printers, I may have reached my limit.
I second all those saying it is time for HP to admit they have a problem...!!!

For me it was my modem/router. While I agree that it just should not be this hard and there should not be so many little settings to tweak with, however; once I changed my modem I have never had another problem. When I first bought the printer I set it up and it worked perfectly and was so much easier than the dell printer I had. Later we started having problems with our internet connection, our ISP thought it was our modem so they brought us a new one. Then the printer would not connect or stay connected and I had all of the same problems. I worked with them to try to figure out the configuration and after frustration from that I asked them if we could just get our old modem back. Since then we have not had any problems at all. If you are only connecting with the modem or router from your ISP you might call them and see if they can help you with the configuration. If you can get that right you probably will not have any more problems.

Tried working with my ISP, Bellsouth aka ATT. Nothing they could do. Spent almost as time with them as I did with HP. Everyone just points their finger at someone else. I've given up. Use it USB only. In time I'll replace it, but isn't in my budget in the forseeable future. This is printer #3 from HP with the same problems so I'm not even wasting my time with them. My time is more valuable than their printer. It's the last product I'll buy from them. Eventually they'll figure it out but it will be too late. I understand why they're just barely staying afloat.

I completely understand and felt the same way. I had the same issues with my dell and bought this one, when it started having problems I was very frustrated. I have been happy with the printer once I got the issue resolved. I do believe it is a compatibility problem between the router and the printer. I saw in an earlier post that someone bought a lheir inksys which solved their problem. Have you tried asking your isp if they have another brand of router they can switch you to? If a change to the router fixes it then it is cheaper than a new printer. Our isp was really good to work with and did whatever they could to help resolve the issue.

I have a wi-fi system here which was installed by very good professionals. It supports our Sonos sound system through-out the house. Since it shows 20+ mbps of download everywhere and allows us to stream video on Netflix and Hulu+ with both Roku and Apple TV devices, I think it's fair to say the wi-fi works well.
Only the 7520 has issues.
Today I turned off everything for a while - including the router which the printer uses (we have more than one in the house). When I turned it all back on, the printer worked...for a few minutes...then no joy once again. But it is back on at the moment. Completely erratic and unpredictable.
I can use the direct connection (minus the internet) to do much of my work, so I will struggle along for a while. And I do love how the HP prints photos...................
But, my next wireless printer will probably not be HP since they refuse to fix what's so obviously broken.

My new HP 7525 printer keeps dropping off WiFi
I've thoroughly read this HP support forum and tried every suggestion with no luck.
Solutions tried, yet after each step the printer again drops of the network.
. installed software update on printer
. disabled AntiVirus temporarily
. reinstalled software on PCs
. rebooted printer, router/AP and PCs many times
. ran HP Print and Scan Doctor. several times
. reset printer to default, checked for updates
. WiFi signal strength is 5 bars, WiFi AP is 10 feet away. Checked channel in router. It's set to 11 - no neighbors on 11 - Router/WiFi AP Netgear WNDR3700 (about 2 years old) with all current firmware updates
. Printer Auto-off feature set to off.
. Set a static IP address on the printer.
. set router/WiFi AP to Multicast
. Used engineering menu to disable sleep
. Turned off UPnP
I am not going to purchase another router/AP that "might" solve my printing issue.
I have been working on this for four days. I make a change then wait, and find another "lost connection with printer" message on the PC.
If I was not retired with a lot of free time and a person who enjoys puzzles, I would have returned printer three days ago. I am very experienced with home networking and WiFi. Many other WiFi devices in our home all work OK
I have been an HP customer for over 20 years. We've had several HP PCs and laptops, a scanner, a laser printer, an inkjet printer and theis is our third HP all in one.
I'm frustrated because the photos I printer were great but I just can;t keep this printer. I will return this printer (and over $100 of new ink cartridges) and buy another brand.

My browser could never locate the IP so I couldn't make this change.
While trying to solve this repeat problem, I did the following, so far with success. First, I turned OFF the Wireless Direct Option then printed Wireless NEtwork Test Results from the printer menu. On the top of the report I received the following message. I completed the steps successfully and, at least for now, seem to have solved the problem.
ATTENTION: Your P printer is currentlyuc onfigured with an Auto IP address. On most networks, this will prevent your printer from communicating over the network...
SOLUTION:
1. Remove the power cord on your network router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back into the router.
2. On your HP printer, turn power off, and then back on.
3. When the printer finishes initializing and the home screen appears, wait at least 60 seconds, and then print the Wireless Network Test report again.
4. To verify that the printer has received a DHCP IP address from your network router, check the "configuration Source" in the "Current Configuration" section of the Wireless NEtwork Test report. It should show "DHCP".
I hope this solution is not temporary...good luck to you.

Same printer, same issue.
Set a Static IP Address- several times (which was a lot of fun because I kept losing the connection while trying to do this)
DIsabled Sleep mode...so far so good, but while waiting to find out, disabled UPnP just in case.
Has anyone else noticed that HP stopped posting on this thread several months ago? To me it is the height of arrogance for them not even to acknowledge that they have a problem here, and to keep selling this printer without even attempting to fix it. Obviously this problem exists over many different router brands, PC and OS types, ISPs, and levels of user aptitude. The very least they could do is admit they have a problem and try to fix it, instead of blaming every other piece of hardware under the sun, being snotty when their customers don't buy that tactic, and then ignoring the issue when the few suggestions they offer don't work.
Over the years I have bought many HP printers, but I will have to give some serious thought to going with someone else for the next one. Look at this thread- it is on THEIR forum, it has lasted for a year, and they still have not offered anything useful. The only semi-helpful fix possibilities I see here have come from other users, and after several days of screwing around with HP's Support system, I am thankful that there is some intelligent life here.
Wake up, HP, you are definitely dropping the ball, here.

I've had all the aforementioned problems and have had the printer replaced by HP - I knew it wouldn't do any good but at least I got a new set of starter inks.
I have a work-around solution which works on most days - I bought a cheap 24hr timer from Home Depot and have it set to turn off the printer at 6:45am and then back on at 7:00am. This trick has only failed twice over the past six weeks in which case I have had to go through the unplug and replug routine.
It's a pity that HP doesn't read this forum otherwise we'd have a solution. Or would we?
