I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 and have been having some issues getting it to scan to my network folder. When I originally setup and configured this type of scan it worked perfectly. I am not sure what has changed since it has not been working for a while. I have a Western Digital Network attached drive that I use as the share location for everyone in my house.
The scan to network folder works fine when the location is on the computer itself, but when I try to use it with the external drive it fails the test. I have a feeling that it has to do with the credentials between the printer and the drive, but I cannot seem to get any combination to work and do not want to try and scan and move everything off my pysical drive over to the attached drive.
I have been working on this for quite a while and still have not been able to get it to function quite like it did so any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have tried, and failed, to (re)install the printer program (Full Feature Software), this increases the likelyhood that the issue might be buried within the printer software. Regardless of the program's original "health", things can change: small errors can develop in the code, lost links, corrupted libraries can all contribute to several kinds of printing issues.
Assuming you can do so, you can choose to remove the existing printer program > reboot > install a fresh copy of the program from the printer's Website support driver page.
Install Full Feature Software – Printer

If you have not done so, assign a static IP address to the printer - use an IP address outside of the normal range you use for your computers on that same network.

One of the solutions I have used to clear access issues to our own NAS (different brand):
Log into the NAS > reset the User Password for the account used to access the NAS from the computer
You can (of course) use the same password as previously used for the account -- the point is to simply reset that access point.
It is unclear why this might work in your situation -- it is something you can consider trying.
==========================================================
At the least, you might try Restarting Everything, including the router.
If you have not done so, confirm that you have write access to that folder -- you need simply create a text file in the folder meant to hold the scans. Why? Simple test -- the privilege to write to (example) \\192.168.1.47\MyScanFolder is perhaps different from simple read access.
Related? Do use the IP address for the NAS mapping point as opposed to a host name.

I looked up the WD box - it appears that it may be a NAS unit.
I cannot tell you exactly what you are doing wrong (IF anything); I can offer the following:
Sometimes you can "fix" a mapping issue by just removing the existing map point > reboot > and then remap the external Drive.
Reminder:
- Windows does not usually make use of “hosts” names. Map the remote Drive / NAS using the IP address of that device (as opposed to that system’s “hostname”). Example: \\168.192.147\Data
And...
See Section:
- Scan to Network Folder

Hey there 🙂 welcome to the community!
Have you done any updates to any of your devices before the problem started to occur? Do you have any issues accessing the WD drive from other devices? What's the drive's model? Have you checked its settings in the dashboard if the proper access permissions are turned ON?

I have not been able to update the printer. The NAS I have not tried but I have checked to make sure that all the permissions are correct. I can access the drive from ony of the computers in my home without fail. The only thing that seems to be having issues is the printer accessing it.

Please, delete the Serial Number as this shouldn't be a public information. What you could give is is the MODEL number (For example 2TB WD My Cloud's Model Number would be WDBCTL0020HWT).
I'd also follow Dragon-Fur's advice.

I think I got it. It appears as though it was actually a NAS issue not the Printer. After the Firmware on the NAS finally updated the path to the share on the computer for the printer to access worked wonderfully thanks for the help.

Excellent!
I am pleased it is working as expected.
If you have not already done so, you might create a folder on your NAS for your computer's File History backups.
If you have not used File History before, find an explanation in the following (relevant to Windows 8.x and Windows 10):
