HP Officejet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP 8710 keeps going offline.  Shows that it has a wirelss conection but will not  print.  I have to restart the printer to get it to print.  I have to do this everytime i want to print something.  Already uninstalled and re installed the software and this didnt fix the issue.  Also used the HP Print Scan DOctor and the problem is still happening.

Any help with this issue woulb be greatly appreciated.

I just updated the HP Officejet 8710 with a new version of FIRMWARE - WBP2CN1619BR  and all is working now.  I let the printer enter sleep mode, waited 1 hour and then sent a print document to it and it worked fine.

Hi PVS808,

If you are connecting your printer to WiFi through router, then below document should help. This is due to windows connection discruption that can be fixed with below HP support document. Try it out and let us know if that works...

Hello archilles23,

i followed the directions in the posted link and set the Manual IP for the printer and diabled the SNMP in printer properties but the printer will still not print when its in sleep mode.  I still have to turn the printer off and on to get it to print.  I tried reinstalling the printer software and doing the steps again but still no luck.

The wireless ico on the printer is solid and showing its connected but when trying to print it says error unable to print.

Hi PVS808,

Thanks for following the posted link. Sorry that the initial direction couldn't solve your problem.

I assume that you face the problem printer offline after some time, eg 5mins. By power off and on printer, it could print for another 5mins before it goes offline. Correct me if i am wrong.

I understand potentially you face other issues, do you mind to let me know the router brand and model that you are using? With that i can help you in a better manner.

I had the exact same issue with an HP OfficeJet Pro 8720...from multiple computers/laptops. I spent almost 4 hours in chats with HP support with them going into my settings and even my router and telling me it was a router issue (even though I have numerous other devices using it just fine) and then eventually them telling me it was a hardware issue with the printer. I just received a new printer from HP...completed setup...and am now having the EXACT SAME issue with it.

Guess it's time to call it...return these new printers and start looking into a new one. Hopefully you have better luck at finding a solution.

I'm having the exact same problem with the 8710, I just purchased. I don't want to spend 4 hours on the phone either. It works when I restart it, clearing out items in the print queue, and printing one or two things before (I guess) going to sleep. I'm using an HP Pavillion G series laptop, running Windows 10, and using a Uverse router. I'm replacing an 8600, which I loved, so I would hate to leave HP, but I may not have a choice here. This is unworkable, it's clearly not a connectivity or computer issue. Fix it now, or if it's fixed, send me instructions on how to do so.

Having the exact same problem and extremely disappointed as I purchased the 8710 yesterday and have wasted considerable time uninstalling/installing software 5 times on 2 different computers.  Interesting in that the HP Print and Scan Doctor says to power off then back on to see if problem is resolved. I hate to say I spent six hours trying to get it to work properly to no avail.
