Hi

I bought a HP photosmart B110 printer 2 years ago.

And now it gives a prinhead error. (printhead deffect stuff)

I cleaned the head multiple times. That does not fix the problem.

Restart printer, 30 seconds without power, ... nothing works.

I'm from belgium. I looked at the hp store... 51,70 euro's for the printhead...  Of course I'm NOT going to buy that.

And yes, we have only used real hp inkt.

We are a small family. We use the printer for small tasks. And it's already broken after 2 years?????!!!!

not happy. Very disappointed...

I bought a second hand B110 printer, removed the print head and placed that in my printer.

That fixed the problem for 15 euro's.

Now we can use our 100 euro's ink stock.

I understand you are getting printhead error. I would take a look at this document and follow the steps.

Let me know how it goes.

Like I said, I have already done those steps.
But thanks for trying.

I presume that there is no way to fix this other than replace the print head, i have the same problem after the same time scale, have these printer built in self destruct after 2 years?  As i only paid £65 pounds for the printer new, i am not likely to pay the £95 requested for a replacement refurbished printer. Looks like the HP way is to dump the printer and purchase a new one, hardly environmentaly friendly !!!!

If i have to buy another printer it certainly WONT be HP, Rip off!!!

PS,  JohnB is a bit bold asking for kudos on a problem he did not fix or even supply a viable solution for.

Try to clean the printerhead.

That didn't fixed the problem for me (topic starter), but you have to try it first.

I bought a second hand printer, as you can read in my post above.

After... 7 months it is still working.

If you don't just have bought alot of ink (like I did), then just buy a new printer.

By the way: the "bad" printerhead gave the same error message on the second hand printer.

That's about everything I can say.

Hi , Many thanks, like you i tried everything, and have just bought a set of ink cartridges.

Looks like a new printer and try selling cartridges on ebay.

thanks again.

I had the same problem.

I hate the fact that one litte problem makes you have to buy spareparts that ara only marginally cheaper the the printer was so to begin with, so instead, in pure frustration, you buy a new printer instead and a basically perfectly fine printer goes into the landfill.

Anyway, here's what i did:
I held the printhead upside down over a pot of boiling water (the "electronics"-part away from the steam) for maybe 20 seconds (to try and dissolve the clot). I then put it down on a papertowel tapping it acouple of times. Using a straw I then i took a couple of drops of boiling water and dripped them where the black cartridge goes in the printhead (stopping when no more water would fit).
I repeated this whole thing (steam and all) maybe 4-5 times until the water started going through the printhead and coming out on the papertowel.
Then i printed this page: http://www.refillinstructions.com/black.htm

Voilá!

I too have had my HP B110 printer for 2 years, and it has now, without any warning, just given me the printhead error message.  I followed all the directions of the document suggested, but I still get the same error message. What more can I do, other than ditching the whole printer?
