Hi Chhathu, and thanks for posting on the HP Forums.

I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find which operating system you are using. Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. With this information we can provide you with accurate information.

Hi Jamieson,

I am having a similar problem. I am using Windows 8.1 single language (recently updated from windows 8). The version is 64 bit OS. I was able to scan earlier when the OS was windows 8 but now I am not able to.  My HP printer was installed with my Dell Laptop, inspiron 15r. HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series. please assist.

Same problem in Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. "HP Scan" displays the above message.

HPScan.exe is in directory "c:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series\bin".

All other HP programs are in "c:\Program Files\HP\HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series\Bin".

The "HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series.exe" program is also there, but when started manually, it exits immediately (as I see in Task Manager).

Tried to solve by installing the 32bit driver kit on a virtual 32bit Win7 machine and copying the HP directory from the VM to the host system into a separate directory, but it behaves the same.

The same driver CD worked on my previous computer (WinXP).

Hi @Sreeg  and @GFejos , and thanks for getting in contact with the HP Forums!

I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.

Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.

Please let me know how that goes!

Thanks for your help. HP Scan works now, but the main HP Series window still does not start. I will post it as a new question.

Hi @GFejos , and thanks for getting back to me!

I'm happy to see your scan is up and running!

What main series window are you referring to that won't start?

Please let me know and I'd be happy to help!

Hi Jamieson,

It's a shortcut in the "Start Menu / Programs / HP / HP Deskjet 1050 J410 Series" folder, its name is "HP Deskjet 1050 J410 Series".

Command line shown in Properties panel:

"C:\Program Files\HP\HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series\Bin\HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series.exe" -Start UDCDevicePage

Thanks in advance.

And the "HP DESKJET 1050 J410 SERIES WAS NOT FOUND" shows up again. No changes have been made to the system (no software has been installed/removed/updated) since it worked last time.

Hi GFejos, and thanks for the response!

I would recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

I would then suggest running your Windows updates, and your Flash updates:

Adobe Flash Player

WIndows Update

Please let me know the results!
