Every time I hit PRINT, I get an error message that says basically "output tray is closed, please open".  It's already open!  I've done everything, reset, searched inside with flash light, troubleshooting guides, etc.  None of the installed or online helps have solved the problem.  Any ideas on what to do next?  Thanks!

Hi BBooth,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the Output tray causing errors.  Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected to a wall outlet and NOT a power bar/strip.  Here is a document that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.

Please NOTE that the printer listed in the document is a LaserJet printer and it is only used as an example. The document is meant for HP products in general.

I am also going to give you the document for Resetting the Printer.

One other step you can try (if you are running a Windows operating system) is to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor just in case of an issue with the software.

If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

Thank you for your time.

Took your advice but finally had to call Customer Service.  The sensor was bad.  Sending me a new one!  Thanks for your help!
