I changed one of the cartridges and it started automatic alignment. It printed the alignment sheet and I tried to scan it, like it said. It won't seem to register the scan as alignment and is just stuck not letting me do anything else as its busy "aligning".
I've tried turning it off and on, unplugging it, but it still just says, "Alignment is not finished. The alignment procedure requires you to scan the page that is automatically printed, and cannot be interrupted by a print job."
Even tried removing the cartiridge and reinserting.
I don't know what to do?

Hello emssofar,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're having an issue with the printer not finishing the alignment page.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
When the printer is back up and running, please do a proper power cycle with the use of the ON/OFF button. This will do a semi power reset on the unit.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
Thanks for your time.
Cheers,
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Whoever this guy is "Waterboy" must be a complete idiot, no one in their right mind would say they worked for HP, l have a great line of problems with them and today l have another. The reason l am here is because l have problems with getting a piece of HP crap to work, a 1510 printer exactly. I did have a problem with a laptop and in the end l had my solicitor contact the top woman in Portugal who actually lied to my solicitor, my laptop was sent 7(SEVEN) times from Portugal to Spain by courier and they changed the FAN, KEYBOARD, 3 times, (are you really seriousHP)apart from being Portuguese the woman is also a liar, what a good combination, you need remember that if ever you meet a Portuguese then at that time you have met someone who "Knows Everything".
Now, the pround man that works for HP...............i have a HP1510, l put the disc in my laptop, it just invites me to see whats on the disc, nothing else, l put the 2 cartridges in, lights flash, its like a fooking discotheque, nothing else happens, l take out the cartridges, put them in, shut all doors, still flashing, take out the cable, take out the mains cable, wait more than 15 seconds, put it together, still flashing, alignment page???, where the fook is it???, it dont come, after 2 hours of this crap it is time to throw it in the bin, go back to the shop and buy another make.
Why??, well the people at the shop where l bought it are racists, they enjoy taking your money but do not like it when you have a problem.
Have some sense, do yourself a favour, stop buying HP **bleep**, do not get involved with all this crap they sell, Chinese people were never born to make technology better, if at all, they were born to make noodles, let them make noodles and Scam people on the internet then go off and buy a quality item that at least if there is a problem it can be solved diplomatically.
