HP Deskjet 2050 all-in-one won't scan!

I have same problem, and im using windows xp sp3 X32 i think.

"scanner comunication cannot established. -;-;-;-;-;-;-; "
I have tried everything, from restarting, uninstal, instaling updates and nothing works

What printer are you using and how is it connected? Have you tried to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor yet? It is a diagnostic utility that may be able to find and resolve the problem.

Tried all these settings. Still no good. I notice that in the scan window the DPI settings are not showing on any of the file options.

I would like to help you with your scan issue. Are you getting any errors when you scan? Have you run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and did you receive any errors when running it? What operating system are you running on your computer?

I have tried the doctor and all the various fixes and my printer presents as all ok doing test prints but will not scan or print my work.

Before giving up and buying a new one I tried installing from the original disc that came with the printer.

Guess what !  Everything now works like a charm as long as I do not update to the latest software??!

What a schlep this has been.,
