Hi Thacher,
Sorry to hear you are having troubles with your printer.
Can you make a standalone copy from the printer?
HP designed a quick and easy tool that diagnoses and resolves many printing, scanning, and connectivity problems: The HP Print and Scan Doctor. HP recommends that you download and install the Print and Scan Doctor any time you need to troubleshoot a problem with your HP printer from the link below.

My HP F4280 All-in-One scanner will not work. The printer works and it will copy. I am not able to access the scanning facility via HP Solution Centre - when clicking on the said icon I'm told that there is no HP device connected. If I try to use the scanner direct from printer then the power button blinks, then nothing!
Has anyone else had this problem?

I finally went through all those steps that have been in the forums regarding the Solution Center...well, I FINALLY got that back...however, it is not seeing ANY HP devices and constantly says it is closing now...I STILL cannot scan like I could before you put this nonsense on here...I have Vista, I have not upgraded to 7...but I cannot scan when I could just a few short weeks ago, and have been able to for years! If this is your way of selling more printers, trust me, I will find a different brand...I can't AFFORD a new printer OR computer/...and I am very angry, hot and upset after doing all this work and now the **bleep** printer isn't even recognized! Thanks a LOT, HP...you have made me a future non-user...so it looks like you will be getting rid of MORE employees....what a terrible thing to do to this country....just because you don't like OUR President! This will be plastered all over Facebook and Twitter on my part...I am sick of messing with your products...
