HP Envy 5530 Printer

Printer stopped printing, scanning and copying. Deleted printer and reinstalled to my computer. Ran HP Print and Scan Doctor. Printer function now works but will not Scan nor Copy. When trying to Scan, the printer does nothing. The computer says it's scanning but the printer doesn't function. When trying to Copy the printer screen shows Now Copying...1/1 and the wheel spins endlessly. I have to power down the computer to end the task as it won't Copy . What can I do to get the Scan and Copy function to work?

Thank you for much.

I took time to go through all of the steps in this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-5530-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5304881/model/5304882/...

The problem still exists.

When I attempt to scan or copy, the printer briefly begins (even loads the paper when it is about to copy) and then stops. The message on the printer screen will read Now Copying/Scanning and the action wheel will turn. I left it and this keeps running for an hour. I then click cancel and the screen will read Canceling and the acton wheel will just keep spinning and the process won't end unless I turn off the computer. It won't return to the printer home screen and it won't allow me to print from my computer.

Once I restart the printer, I can print a document from my computer but if I try to copy or scan, the printer behaves badly again.

When I run the Print and Scan doctor, and ask it to look at the Scan, it too just runs forever. I've tried it twice and it just runs endlessly for an hour.

Any other recommendations that you can make?

Deborah

Hi @Wakeham_D

I would like to know whether the scanner light is moving when you start the scan?

Provide me the above information to provide you a more accurate solution.

Looking forward to your reply.

Take care.

Cheers!

Thank you for responding.  The light bar moves to the far right side of the glass plate, flashes a light, then goes dark. The bar stays in this position with no light and the printer home screen reads Now Scanning with the wheel spinning. The printer will not proceed from this point. The bar does not move.
