I have a problem. The device used to scan perfectly well creating documents in pdf format. It has now taken to using jpg format. This is deeply unsatisfactory. The machine seems to assume that a document to be scanned is a series of photographs. I will give you an example. I needed to scan our car registration document for an application for a resident's parking permit. The machine produced six different files each containing a part only of the document (and not every part was scanned). I know it is capable of using pdf, but there seems to be no way of getting it back to doing that.

Thank you for your help.

Charles

Scanning issues…

Please try this scan solution:

HP Scan Extended

For Windows:   ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Make searchable PDF scans with this free scanning software -   https://www.naps2.com/

Let us know.

Thank you s much for your prompt reply. I downloaded the programme you suggested, but when I clicked to install it a message came up saying Windows considered it would be dangerous to do so. I'm a bit stuck.
