Hi, running on windows 7 64 bit.
the printer worked fine before Xmas, still printing on both sides.
After the holidays, the manual double sided printer won't work anymore.
I uninstalled and reinstalled, the drivers, it didn't work.
I let the pc use windows drivers, it didn't work;
I have no restore points saved on the pc....
I cleaned up the windows registry... nothing
I don't even understand whether it's a problem of windows or of printing drivers...
could please someone help me ? Thank you, it'd be really appreciated.

Hi @michelag ,
I see that you are experiencing issues printing on both sides. I would like to help you out today.
Did you download and install the Full Feature Software or the Host Based drivers?
HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver.
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Hi Gemini, and thank you for answering.
I did the steps you suggested to me, but nothing.
as long as a double sided document is sent to the printer, it just doesn't stop to let me turn the page and press "continue", still goes ahed by pulling a new sheet...
I deinstalled/installed the drivers anew, performed the scandoctor (no issues were found), and still it doesn't work...
I guess at this point the culprit has to be windows7, can be smth wrong with the print spoiler?
thanks again,
michelag

Hi michelag,
Most likely it was a Windows update, that is causing this issue. Too bad you don't have any restore points set.
Check to make sure Bidirectional Support is Enabled.
Go to the Start , Devices and Printers, right click on the printer, left click Printer Properties, on the Ports tab, put a check beside Enable Bidirectional Support.
You might have to restart the computer.
Try printing again.
If you are still having issues, try printing from another application to see if you have the same results, it might be a setting in the application for two-sided printing.
Let me know the outcome.
Thank You.

Thank you.
The bidirectional support was and is enabled.
I downloaded and installed several pdf readers, as well MS Word can't print two-sided.
Using the pc of my girlfriend, the printer works fine. But the problem is, I need it working on my computer.
I've another idea: under msconfing, which services control the printing process, apart print spooler ? Can it be that to speed up the computer I deliberately deactivated some hp- or windows printing services ?
Another thing I noticed, if I send the instruction to print some selected pages (say, 1,3,6 out of a 10-page-document), it prints the whole document: it is like there's no communication between the printing preferences (both in word as in acrobat) and the printer.Hope these elements can help you (and me ) further....
Thanks again
michelag.

Hi michelag ,
I believe the issue is still with the installation. Most likely to resolve this issue, we would have to rip everything out for the printer in the registry and do a fresh install to fix this problem.
I can send you that information in a private message and you can decide whether to continue with more steps.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
Thank You.

Ok, thank you, I followed your instructions...
Now i'm struggling to install the driver complete solutions.
Printer is on and plugged, windows recognizes it, but the driver software won't.
It waits til I plug in the (plugged) printer.
Already tested all the 4 usp ports.
Doesn't work.
Worse than before 😞

Thanks for letting me know michelag .
Sorry to hear the two-sided feature still isn't working. This is certainly a peculiar issue that you are having.
I would disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software to see if that is causing the issue. How to use MSCONFIG . Click on the Startup tab and click Disable all, Then click the Services tab and check Hide All Microsoft Services.
Restart the computer and try to do the two-sided printing again.
Then you will have to go back and enable the Startup programs, Microsoft Services and turn the Antivirus Software back on again. Check all the HP from the list and try again.
If you have another computer, try installing the printer to see if you have the same results.
Hope this helps.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

thank you for the thourough answer.
I uninstalled the antivirus, no 2-sided printing.
Additionally I suspended the start services in msconfig, no 2-sided printing.
In my girlfriend's pc it is working fine.
I installed another antivirus, still 2 sided. not working.
Please tell me something more, I don't have any clues at this point, this gizmo is driving me crazy...
thank you again
michelag.
