The document feeder stopped working.  It clicks when trying to feed and comes up with the error Document Feeder Mispick, reload.  I cleaned the feed rollers as per the HP video, no change.  Is this something I can easily fix myself  (I can open screws and lubricate parts if necessary)?  Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi @Solray,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed that your document feeder has stopped working on your HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP printer.

There are two guides available that you can follow:

  1. 'Document feeder mispick' Message Displays on the Control Panel and the ADF Does Not Pick Up Paper o....
  2. 'Doc. feeder jam', 'Open door and clear jam', or Other Jam Message Displays on the Printer.

If you have done all those steps already, please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. Country-language selector.

Hope these guides help, and have a good day! Smiley Happy

RnRmusicman,

Thank you for your response.  I understand from the experience of others that this is an inherent design flaw. I have tried the solutions you mentioned, they did not work.  I would like to try to fix the problem myself to avoid the expense and time of sending it back to HP.  The machine is used frequently as a printer and incoming fax, we cannot send it away for a period of time.

Can you provide instructions on how to open the document feeder, and fix the problem.  The unit is past warranty and has not seen excessive use.

Thanks.

I have the same problem and it is frusttrating.  HP products are horrible!!  Dont even bother calling technical support as you will just talk to someone in India whom you cant understand and will just end up telling you to send in the product or pay to have someone come out and look at the machine.  I am going to replace my HP 1536dnf with a competitors product.  Goodbye HP....

I have exactly the same problem and the product is out of warranty.  I have to drive over to the HP repair centre at Hong Kong for repair and as it's a common problem, can you help me to resolve this issue?

Hi @simonspyeung,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

If you tried the steps within my earlier post, Re: HP LaserJet 1536dnf MFP document feeder stopped working, and they did not resolve your issues, then the printer needs to be serviced/or replaced.

Best regards! :generic:

Your response did not solve my document feeder problem on the 1536dnf MFP.  Comments from other users indicate that the design of the 1536 is faulty, the document feeder problem is common and recurring.  Servicing it may not solve the problem in the long term.  I am not prepared to replace the entire printer because of the document feeder problem.  Faxing is also an issue with this product now.  I am not sure if newer models of HP multifunction printers have better reliability.
