It seems alot of different causes and solution's to this problem. My question to any of you, what error code are you getting? Mine is "13.01.00 paperjam in tray 2". However when I follow the onscreen instructions (removing toner cartridge and look for paperjams, removing tray 2 and look for paperjams) there are no jams to be found. Put it all back in and closing it up, it will start printing, sometimes the error gets back after 1 page, but it might run without problems for longer periods of time aswell.
Very frustrating as you cant get a baseline on what might be causing the problem.

I do not work for HP but my company does support this model printer. I would agree that there seems to be several causes. One customer had swapped fusers, delivery guides (in the back), lubricated the pivot arm in back near the fuser, registration assembly, pickup assembly, and maybe even the power supply and formatter -- I can't remember, but what it came down to was we swapped out everything in the paper path near the jam -- this printer DID jam intermittently when duplexing only, in the back, and had 13 paper jams -- and we determined the frame must have been out of whack and causing the paper to catch. I know this thread is about phantom jams but to get to the heart of these types of problems, phantom jam or real paper jam, you really need to have a known-good working printer next to the problem printer and just start swapping assemblies until you find the culprit. For what its worth, we have rarely if ever fielded tech support calls about phantom jams with this model so I suspect is isn't all that common.

I have about 10 of these printers where I work. I have 6 that have been giving me PAPER FEED 1, PAPER LATE JAM and error code 13.01.00. I replaced the rollers, the separation pad, and the tray. Then I took a look in the back and noticed that the roller was trying to pick up the paper and it just wasn't pulling it. The printer will try 3 times to pull the paper, and then it will throw a jam error if it cannot. The next step for me was to replace the cassette paper pick up assembly, PN: RM1-6268-020. Each one of these that I have replaced works like a champ now. Please note, this requires you to take apart the entire printer to remove this part. The first one took me 13 hrs with everything I messed up and lost (lost some springs and a gear) and I had to call HP in the end. Now that I have a good idea what I am doing and a solid plan of attack, I can do one in 1-2 hours.

Hi can you tell me what you find when a 13.01.00 error occurs? I would like to know where you find the paper? It sounds like none of paper is moving. Also can you explain how you set paper guides on tray 2 for paper loading? I may be able to offer some help with out replacing the roller assembly. Do you find any problems with the roller assembly after you have removed it?

When my errors occurred, the paper from tray 2 was not being picked up at all. The printer tried three times to grab the paper and then the error occurred. If you open the back cover and look with a flash light, you will be able to see this happen. The printer would try to pick it up, but it just wasn't grabbing the paper. No, it was not because the roller was worn, because that was the first thing replaced. Nothing appears to be wrong with the assembly, but these printers print on card stock out of tray 2 and they print off a lot every day. I figure it was just getting worn out pulling the card stock. I replaced everything up to the roller assembly (roller, separation pad, tray), and even HP suggested the roller assembly when I called and talked to them. It's done, they work well now. Did 6 or 7 of them and this fixed all the consistent paper jam issues.

you can find a service manual on this link.

this will show you how to take apart the entire printer.

Hello,
I am linking in a similar post for the P3015 and M525 printers that provides a possible solution for the following paper jam:
The "Phantom", "Ghost", "False" jam sometimes called a "No Pick" (paper not advancing in the paper path) from the tray and can be related to worn rollers and other causes. The error code on the CP should be a 13.01 on the P3015 and 13.B2.D2 on the M525 (same paper path).
Paper loading in the tray cassette and the paper guide setting can be a common cause for No Pick jams, attached is a link to a document that explains how to load the tray cassette to prevent No Pick/Phantom jams:
Hope this helps,
DaveK.

Its hilarious how HP handles these things. Always trying to point at user error instead of their own faulty product. I have 3 P3015 printers, purchased together, standing next to each other. I was only able to reproduce the error on one printer. Switching out trays didn't help, I tried everything. I was even on the phone with Dutch HP support, looked at the paper guides, checked the toner cartridge was an original, this was a brandnew printer and lasted about 2 weeks before it was replaced. How can it be user error if I have 11 P3015 machines without issue (in a total of about 84 HP printers) and only 1 P3015 gave this issue.
I really wonder why we still purchase HP printers, our first Kyocera entered service last week. Great machine.
