Got a brand new, fresh out of the box, HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn and installed the driver that came with it.  Can't even print a test page from my Windows 7 64-bit machine.  Demo page on device prints fine, but Win 7 says 'Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance?'  When I do, I get 'An error occurred while troubleshooting'.  I am connecting with a USB cable and Win 7 does see the device.

Tried a new driver (dated 3 days ago) on the HP web site:  LJPro_MFP_M127-M128_basic_drv_13295.exe  v11.21.00.2679 also with the same result.  Has anyone had success getting this model printer to work with Win 7 64-bit?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi @KMcD91

I understand you installed the printer software, but are unable to print from the computer. The self test prints though, from the printer. I can help you.

Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?

What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Hello All,

I'm in the same boat as KMcD91. Purchased a brand new M127fn, installed the software from the CD provided and all seemed well. All setup prints worked but once I went to print from any other program such as Notepad or MS Word, Windows 7 would throw out an error that it could not print. When I try to print a test page, it throws up the Test Page Failed to Print alert. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers from the CD and from the drivers I downloaded from the HP support site. Nothing works to get the unit to print. I have tried both connecting via USB and wired network.

HP Print/Scan doctor does not show any error and is able to print the test page.

The M127fn was connected to several different desktops and laptops and none were able to print to the device. All computers are running Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

Does anyone have any advice?

Hi @HP_User_43

I see that you are not able to print after installing the printer on the computer. The Print and Scan Doctor will print the test page. I can help you with this.

Are you signed onto the computer with Admin rights?

Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.

Printing a Configuration Report.

Follow the steps in this document to get to the device manager to check for the printer entries. With the USB cable connected. How do I get into Windows Device Manager?

Then click on Identifying problems in Windows Device Manager.

In the list click on Universal Serial Bus controllers and look for "USB mass storage device" and USB printing support. (make sure any other printers are turned off or disconnected)

How is the printer listed?

Please follow the steps in this document to see if we can resolve this issue.

Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue.

Disregard the title. You can skip Solution one: Download a tool to resolve the issue automatically, since you have already ran this step.

If the issue persists, I would disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software to see if there is a program interfering in the back ground. How to use MSCONFIG . Click on the start up tab and click disable all.

Make sure there are no jobs in the print queue.

Try and print again.

Then you will have to go back and enable the startup programs and turn the Antivirus Software back on again.

Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Hello,

I performed all the suggestions you have provided and the device still will not print. I have even started the computer in safe mode to try and print and it does not. I can only assume it is a driver issue since the HP install and print doctor programs seem to be able to communicate with the printer to print the test page.

I have also tried all the different versions of the M127fn drivers (Basic, Dribver, Full) to see if it will print but all tries end up in failure.

I did notice that the printer thinks its location is in Vietnam even though I purchased the device in Canada.

Any other ideas to get this unit to print or am I destined to try and return it to where I purchased it from?

Hi HP_User_43,

Is the USB port on the computer 2.0 or 3.0?

I would recommend using the 2.0 port and cable.

Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and the USB cable is connected directly to the computer.

The USB cable shouldn't be longer then 6 feet.

Here are steps to remove the jobs from the spool folder and restart the print spooler.

How to Clear Current Print Queue In Windows Vista & Windows 7.

Follow these steps to make sure the proper port is selected on the computer for the printer:

Go to start, devices and printers, right click the printer and left click printer properties, select the ports tab.

Make sure the USB has a check mark beside it, if not put the check mark there and apply the changes.

Follow the steps in this document to get to the device manager to check for the printer entries.

How do I get into Windows Device Manager?

Then click on Identifying problems in Windows Device Manager.

In the list click on Universal Serial Bus controllers and look for USB printing support or the Laserjet, (make sure any other printers are turned off or disconnected) If you have any exclamation marks or other devices in the list, right click and update the drivers.

Let me know what it showed in the device manager for the printer.

Try printing again.

If the issue persists, create a new profile with Admin rights. Create a user account .

Install the printer on this account. Temporarily turn off the Antivirus software, just to make sure it isn't interfering.

Test the printer.

Update the printer's firmware. HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn Drivers.

Please check your private messages for the reset for the printer to try if the issue continues.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.

Is this in a home or office environment?

Thank You.

Hello,

I have tried all the suggestions in the previous post and the printer reset and it still has not resolved my issue. The printer has improved slightly in that it now prints PDF files and JPG using Adobe PDF Reader and Windows Picture viewer but not Office doucments, text files or from a web browser.

The printer is connected via USB 2.0. The USB cable is less than 6' long. The printer is connected directly in to a wall socket. The firmware has been upgraded to the latest version available from the HP Support site. The printer is being used in a home office environment.

Does this printer support PCL5 or PCL6? Is it possible to use another set of drivers?

I am almost at wits with this device. Any other advice would be greatly appreiciated.

Hi HP_User_43,

The printer language supported on this printer is PCLm/PCLmS.

There are Universal Print Drivers available for different Laserjets, but this model isn't listed as a supported model.

HP Universal Print Driver Series for Windows - specifications.

Run the Microsoft Fix It Tool.

Diagnose and fix printer and printing problems automatically.

Run all the Windows Updates on the computer.

If you are still having issues printing, run the System File Checker.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.

Let me know the results.

Thank You.

Hello,

Microsoft Fix-It tool did not resolve the issue.

Computer has the latest updated for Windows 7 Ultimate x64 as of 2014-09-21. This is a brand new install.

SFC /scannow did not show any corruption or missing files.

Hi HP_User_43,

Is this a Laptop or a Desktop?

Try another USB port on the computer and another USB cable just to rule that out for connectivity issues.

If you are using a Laptop, check the power management on the computer to see if that is causing the issue.

Go into the device manager, under universal serial bus controllers, for each USB root hub, right click and left click on properties, for power management remove the check mark for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". It allows the computer to limit or turn off power for this device.

How do I get into Windows Device Manager?

Update Adobe. Product updates.

Make sure the printer is set to the default printer in devices and printers and from the applications that you are printing from, the printer is chosen.

Set the driver to print directly to the printer. Go to start, devices and printers, right click the printer, left click printer properties, click on the advanced tab, select print directly to the printer, apply and OK.

Test the printer using Notepad or Wordpad.

Try printing from another browser to see if you have the same results.

Let me know if that helped.

Thank You.
