HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw - error message to install new cartridge
After printing a ream of paper, we got an error message to install a new toner cartridge. We couldn't overwrite it and continue to print. Installed a new HP toner cartridge and still get the same error message to install a new cartridge. I've done a hard reset already with no change. Will take any help I can get. This is the first toner cartridge change for this printer.

Hi @kdaniels79 ,
I see that you are experiencing issues with the toner not being recognised. I will certainly do my best to help you.
I have provided a document with steps for replacing the toner. Make sure all the orange packing material is removed and the sealing tape. Make sure a piece of paper didn't slide in part way from the paper tray, blocking any sensors.
Are you using Genuine HP Toner?
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
Have a great day!
Thank You.

I have the same error except i am using it for the 1st time with a brand new cartridege that is not being recognized. The response from the HP person just looked like he said to repalce the cartridge which you already did. Not much of a solution. It appears from your probelm a new cartridge didnt resolve it so Im wondering if its a printer problem.

Hi @RSPQs,
I read your post and see that the toner isn't being recognized after a replacement. I would like to help you.
Are you using Genuine HP Toner?
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
If you are still having the issue, remove the toner and power cycle the printer.
Check the toner to make sure the orange clip and sealing tape is removed from the toner. Make sure a piece of paper didn't pull in part way in the tray blocking any sensors also. Reinsert the toner again. If the issue persists, remove the toner and use a flashlight to check for any tiny pieces of paper that might be caught and blocking the toner sensor in that area.
I have provided a document with the different error messages. HP LaserJet Printers - A Supplies Error Code or Message Displays on the Printer Control Panel.
Please let me know the results. Thank You.

Nope... not at all.... as of right now my printer is a giant paperweight. It has never worked again. And yes, I did all the obvious - unwrapped genuine HP cartridge, all packaging, etc., gone, installed, reset, on, off, reboot, etc. etc.

Hi @kdaniels79,
Thanks for letting me know that you are still having issues with the new toner being recognized.
Inspect the toner cartridge for damage:
1. Remove the toner cartridge from the product and verify that the sealing tape has been removed.
2. Check the memory chip for damage.
3. Examine the surface of the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
CAUTION: Do not touch the roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge.
Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
4. If you see any scratches, fingerprints, or other damage on the imaging drum, replace the toner.
Try cleaning the contacts.
Use a pencil eraser & clean the contacts on top of the toner, tiny green circuit with contacts on it.
Then slowly insert the toner and look on the left hand side, you will see a black plastic piece flip up to meet with the toner, before it meets the toner you will see 2 contacts sticking out of the black plastic piece, use the pencil eraser to also clean it to see if that resolves the issue.
Try the old Toner to see if it is still recognized.
If you are still having the same issue then most likely it is a hardware issue with the printer or a issue with possibly the new toner. Please Contact HP Support and inquire about a replacement toner, just to rule that out. Fill in the model number and the form to receive a case number for quicker assistance.
Please keep me posted. Thank You.

Hi@VerminFH,
Thanks for stopping by HP Support Forums.
I came across your post and would like to help.
You are unable to get the new toner recognized on the printer. Is that, correct?
I would like to share a link which has a table of solutions related to the supplies (Toner related).
I recommend you to use the link below and check if that helps you solve the issue on the printer.
Just to be sure, I request you to try the old toner back on the printer as well to check if that causes any error on the printer or will it get accepted.
Also, clean the toner contact strips once before installing the new toner.
Hope the solution above fixes the issue. Feel free to reply back for more.
