Laserjet Pro 200 M251 nw
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello,

We purchased the Laserjet Pro 200 M251 nw printer for our office about a year ago or so.  About 4 months ago we started experiencing the printer cleaning itself after every 3-4 pages or so then the misprint notification pops up.  We hit ok and it continues to print but will again repeat these issues every 3-4 pages.

If anyone can give me any ideas where to go from here and how to fix these issues it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time!

Hey @mnaptpeople,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I understand that your Laserjet Pro 200 m251nw is performing its cleaning operations every three or four pages. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. Once that is done this document outlines how to troubleshoot print quality issues with your printer. I know you are not having issues with print quality, but the troubleshooting steps are going to be similar.

One other thing to do is to open the printer and remove all of the cartridges. If there was any toner hiding underneath the cartridges, then it would need to be cleaned by using a dry cloth. If there is any leaking toner in the printer, most likely what is happening is the printer has or had refilled or non-genuine toners inserted. Replacing the cartridges with genuine HP cartridges should prevent this issue from happening in the future.

Please let me know if this resolves your issues or if you have any other questions. Otherwise, have a great day!

I have been experiencing what I believe is the same issue, but seemingly worse!

Every 1-2 pages, it goes into a cleaning mode and then gives me a "misprint" error. Whenever there is a misprint error, once I click "OK" it reprints the pevious page (which had already been printed properly) and then continues printing. For my last 8-page print job, it reprinted 6 of the pages, costing me 14 sheets of paper. It also takes a minute every time it does that (to go through cleaning and wait for the command prompts to appear).

Needless to say, besides being very wasteful of paper and ink, it is very time consuming and frustrating. Doesn't someone have a solution?

I've tried a hard re-set of the printed (taking the cables totally out for a minute and then restarting it).

Thanks!
