We have a new m602 that gets error 51.00.10. It happens at seemingly random times. We have tried moving the printer to a different network port hoping it was something with the data that it was recieving. I cant find the error on the hp website. Anyone have any idea what it means?

This is a laser/scanner error. On some older models this error could be caused by a bad toner cartridge, usually and non hp one. On recent models the issue is almost always a bad laser/scanner assembly. This is a fairly new printer which may still be under warranty. If so contact hp customer care.

I agree with David's post. Its the Laser Scanner Assembly which is faulty. If its new within an year HP will replace the faulty part without any charges.

You can try checking the connection in DC controller and reconnect the connectors

in laser scanner. Still if the issue persists.

Replacing the laser scanner assembly will replace the issue.

Hi,

The answer to your issue could be sorted out by following steps :

1. Reconnect connector (J145) on the laser/scanner.

2. Reconnect connectors (J86 and J93) on the DC controller.

3. If the error persists, replace the laser/scanner.

Note : Please do not try to perform the above steps if you are not technically sound. Instead, please contact HP Customer Care Support, who could help and assist you in better ways.

I have worked on over 100 hp laser printers that have had a laser/scanner error. Not one of them had a bad connection and it was always replacing the laser/scanner or lubing the motor within the laser/scanner that got the printer working again. The only time one of those connections is bad is when work is done on the printer and the tech is not careful when reassembling. Lubing the motor only works on some models. (LJ 2200, 1200, 1300, etc.)

M602 printers do NOT have scanners.

The user above needs to read up on printers. All laser printers have laser/scanner assemblies. This is the assembly which writes the image to the drum of the toner cartridge. The user is thinking of multifunction printers which also have a scanner which is used to duplicate a sheet for faxing, copying or sending to a computer folder. These are two different types of scanners.
