Hi There,
Our 6830 when turned on only shows error code 0314461 and no matter how many times we turn it off, unplug it, etc... it still keeps showing that error code.

Hello @TorDaiShan,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're getting the error code 03144661 on the front panel of your HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One Printer and that error state is causing your printer to be unresponsive. I would like to assist you today with resolving this error state.
To be honest, it does sound like your machine has encountered a Firmware Failure. The Firmware is the internal programming within your machine. It controls what your printer does and how your printer does it. Essentially, it is the 'brains' of the printer. If the Firmware is corrupt than your printer will not function properly. To see if we can resolve this programming issue I am going to have you download and install the latest Firmware on your printer. We will also attempt a power reset. Please follow the steps below.
Step 1: Check Power:
Please plug your printer directly into a wall outlet for power. Power strips and surge protectors can cause HP Printers to lack power and not perform properly. Once your printer is plugged directly into the wall outlet please power your machine on to verify if the error is now resolved.
Should the error state persist, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Power Reset:
- Turn your printer ON
- With your printer ON disconnect the power cable from the rear of your printer for 60 seconds
- Plug the power cable back in
- Your printer should start back up on its own
Check the display to verify if the issue is resolved now. If the issue persists, please proceed.
Step 3: Update Firmware:
- Please click here to download the latest Firmware Update for your printer
- Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left
- Once the download is complete please follow the onscreen instructions to 'send' the Firmware to your printer
Note: This Update may fail as your printer is in an error state. If the Update fails to go through, please do not attempt again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you! 🙂

I'm having the same issue with a HP OfficeJet 6830.
Each time it boots up, after 5-10 seconds, it just shows a blue screen with 01144661 written on it.
Lovely. It's 2015, and this is the best error message HP can come up with....
I have tried unplugging the printer, leaving it for 2-3 minutes, and turning it back on again... same thing.
I tried the "download latest firmware" link, but it just connected to my printer, and said it was already running the latest version.
We haven't had this printer long, we've replaced the color cartridges once (with genuine HP cartridges), but have had errors telling us the "Print head is dirty", "A print cartridge is faulty", and now this.
I've always had HP printers in the past, but this will be the last one.
Hopeless.
Or, as HP would describe it, 01144661.

Hey @UncleMike987,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that your HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One Printer is reporting a 01144661 error code with a blue screen. The reason there is no explanation for this error is because this is a Firmware programming failure within your printer. There is no specific error to report as your printers programming is corrupt. The Firmware is essentially the 'brains' of your printer. It controls what your printer does and how your printer does it. If the internal programming is corrupt within the printer performance issues are likely to occur.
At this time I would recommend that you give our Technical Support queue a call to explore hardware replacement options. HP Technical Support can be reached at: [edited]. This is the North America support number. If you are located elsewhere please let me know so I can get you the correct number for your location.
Good luck going forward with this. 🙂

Actually, I'm based in Switzerland.
Our printer is now officially dead. The "03144661" error has now been replaced with a "There is a problem with the printhead" message, which can't be get passed. I've turned it off for 2 minutes (as recommended by a HP employee in a different HP thread), I've left it turned off for 2 days... and each time, when I turn it back on again, the error comes back. And, as I previously said, the firmware is reported as being up-to-date, so I can't update that.
I've also tried replacing the print cartridges on the off-chance that one of the previous set of genuine HP ink cartridges was faulty.
My wife is doing a diploma at the moment... we need a solid, reliable printer, and can't be sending off this broken model, and waiting weeks for a replacement.
What can you recommend for me to do, and (more importantly) what can I do to simplify this process, and confirm to the Swiss HP Customer Service staff that this really is a printer problem, and not just user error ?
Mike

Hey there @UncleMike987,
Thanks for getting back to me regarding this issue. 🙂
The error that your machine is now reporting is a hardware failure. The Printhead mechanism is the part that the cartridges fit into. It controls 'reading' the cartridges and putting ink on the page. If the Printhead is defective, a whole unit replacement would be required as the Printhead is a non-replaceable part in this model of printer. Your printer comes with a one year manufactures warranty on it. Under the warranty your printer qualifies for a whole unit replacement at no cost to you. The way the replacement process usually works is that HP ships a replacement printer to you. Once you get the replacement printer you test it to make sure it works. Next, package up the defective printer in the box that the replacement printer came in. Use the return shipping label that came with the replacement printer to ship back the defective unit to HP. This way, you are not left without a printer for a long period of time.
Also, the replacement cartridges your purchased and installed in your printer can be used in your replacement Officejet once it arrives. This way, no ink will be wasted. I recommend that you leave those cartridges in the current defective printer to avoid them from drying out until the replacement printer arrives. For future reference, should you ever need to store cartridges outside of a printer, please see here: Storing Opened Cartridges and Printheads
Our Technical Support for Switzerland is offered in both German and French. Please call [edited] for support. Please tell the Technical Support Agent the troubleshooting steps that you have completed and the results of those steps. Also, let them know the exact Printhead failure message that you're getting.
I wish you luck going forward with this! 🙂

So I carried out the first step, and when I powered up again, the error code was gone. But then I was instructed to go through the setup process. When it came to installing the "SETUP" versions of the ink cartridges, I was SOL!!. I've been using the printer for a month now, and I had replaced one of the cartridges.
What can I do to get around this problem?

Hey there @wmmadway,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that when troubleshooting an error code of 03144661 on the front panel of your HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One Printer you're being prompted to install Setup cartridges that you do not have.
Because your printer is prompting for those catridges, it means that the printer 'thinks' it's going through the out of box setup. Those Setup cartridges are needed for product initialization. Setup cartridges cannot be purchased from a store. Therefore, I suggest at this time that you give our phone team a call as they may be able to send the Setup cartridges out to you.
Please click here to access the contact options. Once the site opens select your location and follow any onscreen prompts to get the phone number.
Best of luck going forward with this. Take care! 🙂
