My Officejet Pro 8600 Plus won't ailgn the printhead.  I have selected the align option numerous times, reset the printer by unplugging the cord, and even reset to factory defaults.  I am about at my wit's end.  This is getting ridiculous.  Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello Kiwikobi,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand your Officejet 8600 won't align the printhead. I can relate to how frustrating this situation is. I am here to offer some suggestions to try and resolve this issue. Please follow these steps:

1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector

2) Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door

3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)

4  Wait 60 seconds or more, then plug the power cord back into the printer

5) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges

6) Try to print an alignment page

If these steps don't resolve your issue, then please follow this entire HP document on An 'Alignment Unsuccessful' Error Message Displays on the All-in-One.

Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Smiley Happy

I have an Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, which is not printing Majenta. I am using genuine HP cartridges, and have installed new cartridges so the ink levels are full.

I have cleaned the printheads via the touch screen menu, but this just prints the Majenta in streaks, or not at all.

I have tried to align teh printhead, but it wont align, and shows failure message.

I have changed the printhead for a new one as suggested in other HP help forums, however £90 later, the problem still persists, the printhead wont align, and Majenta is not printing at all.

HELP !!

Hello RobG-B,

I understand your Officejet 8600 Plus is not printing Magenta ink. I will do my best to assist you! This printer will keep stating alignment failed until you receive the full colors. I realize you have bought a brand new printhead. The only thing I can suggest is try cleaning the printhead again to see if this improves the quality.

If you're receiving the same issue, then you need to contact HP technical support to see what options you have available. Click here to find out: HP Worldwide Contact. Good luck.

I have tried all of the suggested actions and still get the same error message and results.  When I contacted HP support, they suggested that I purchase a new HP and buy an extended warranty.

I have the exact same problem, and this issue seems to be all over the web as well.  The magenta color won't print, and I repeatedly get the "alignment failed" error.  I've cleaned the print heads multiple times using the printer options, took the print head out and soaked it in hot water per instructions on the HP Support Forum - 2478505 - and magenta still won't print and printheads won't align.  Due to the number of us who are having this identical problem, HP should issue a recall on these printheads and send out ones that don't have this glitch.

I am having the same issue.  I have tried everything suggested.  Won't print magenta.Untitled.png

I have this exact same problem with magenta printing with streaks and no amount of cleaning will fix it.

I hav e a similar problem and have done what was suggested in the firs reply.  Before and after doing that process when trying to align I got a good clean crisp out put from the alignment but the message that the alignment was unsuccessful without progressing the the point of progressing to the point of scanning the page that was produced.

Printing appears to be excellent all the time but cancelling the alignment frequently is notice is a real nusance,
