I have a problem installing the printer, when I am trying to install the Printer Disc in my computer, it shows
"The file G:\OJ860x64.msi is not a valid installation package for the product Basic Software of HP Officejet Pro 8600. Try to find the installation package OJ860x64.msi in a folder from wich you can install Basic Software of HP Officejet Pro 8600."
I try to uninstall the Basic Software of HP Officejet Pro 8600 and it shows the same thing and then I press Cancel and Shows
"The Instalation Source for this Product is not available. Make sure the source exists and you have access."
Anybody knows how to fix this problem? How do I uninstall the Software?
I tried to download the Driver and it still shows the same with the driver downloaded from HP Website.

This sounds like a problem with the Windows Installer. Go to the Microsoft website, and search for
"Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled" and you should get to an automatic fix program.
I was a support engineer for HP.
If the advice resolved the situation, please mark it as a solution. Thank you.

Hello,
I have problems installing version 13.15 of the Windows 7 64 bits Driver for the HP Officejet Pro 8600 - N911a.
I've downloaded the package named "OJ8600_1315.exe" from HP support site. I open this exe file, after a couple of screens (select additional applications and license agreement), the actual installation begins.
After a couple of seconds, a little window appear:
When I click on "Browse" I can see it's looking for the file "OJ860x64.msi". That file is not in my computer.
After clicking on "Cancel", a new screen appears and then I click on "Details" and the following window appears:
It says it cannot uninstall the basic software of the device from my PC.
I have checked with Device Manager under Control Panel, and that basic software is not installed in my PC.
My PC is an HP tm2-1080la TouchSmart with Microsoft Windows 7 64 bits.
I have older version of Officejet Pro 8600 installed, but I properly uninstalled it before trying to install the new one.
I've even tried running a registry cleaner and the above suggested Microsoft FixIt tool, without good results.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I am linking you to an HP Support document called “Are You Having Problems Finding Your Windows 7 or Windows 8 Print Driver? Try the HP Printer Install Wizard” below. I would recommend that you follow and download it and run it to get your printer installed. This tool is much easier to use and does most of the work for you.
