I followed the steps for going to the google account page and creating a app profile for the printer. But I also had to uncheck Include sender in all email messages sent out successfully from the printer. save and test. then I went back in and checked this again and it still worked.

I just made this account to say THANK YOU to this user (Mike_Dyer) for posting this information. This solved my problem and only took about 15 seconds. I'm using the LaserJet Pro MFP M476nw.

To ping the gmail server using Windows, just click your start menu and type "cmd" (without the quotes) and press enter. Then type in:

ping smtp.gmail.com

and look at the IP address it produces. For me, it was 74.125.22.108, but for you it might be different.

Enter that IP address into the "SMTP Server" box.

My other settings were:

Port 465 with SSL checked.

SMTP requires authentication, full gmail email address as User ID, and gmail password.

After 2 hours of troubleshooting this person's reply was GOLD.

Heres my 2p...

1) Goto Gmail.com

2) Create a new random email address

3) Login to your new random email address

4) Do not enable 2 step-security just create a ridiculously long password with characters, numbers, caps and symbols (and anything else ASCII)

4) Set any incoming email to automatically forward to your real email address

5) Point your scanner to automatically email to your new random email address and boom within 5 seconds it will send and forward to your real inbox.

Best Regards,

J
