I have a hp 8600 pro and am wondering if it is possible to do so, if not hp should consider that suggestion and add that feature to its printers which is to reset the usage report to show current usgage report of current ink.  The reason I would like to be able to do that is that the printer shows a combine usage report of the ink I had in before and the new one I just installed and that report is a misrepresentation of the amount of pages printed on my current ink.  And since I did not take down the total pages printed on my old cartridges, I have no way of telling the current stats of my new ink cartridges and therin lies the problem.

Another thing I would like to see add to printers and as far as I know my printers (hp 8600 pro and hp7610) do not have that feature.  If it does be sure to let me know how to do it. I would like to password protect my printers so that no other person can print from it except me - the same way how a computer is password protected.

I am not very familiar with commercial units. I can only recommend the Laserjet Pro 500 M525 as I have used it at work.

A reseller or sales representative would know more then I do.

Hi @Goodheart123

Welcome to the HP Support Forums. You are unable to reset the page count. This is/was to prevent people from resetting the page count and claiming that the printer was never used.

You suggestion of being able to track current page count by ink cartridge is a pretty good idea. I have passed it along to the appropriate people.

As for being able to password protect your printer. That option is currently unavailable. It would be assumed that everyone on the network would need access to the printer. If you set it up to your computer via USB then your computer would be the only one with access. This is a consumer level printer. Some of the commercial level printers do have the password protection feature that you are looking for.

Just for future reference can you please suggest some commercial level printers that have password protection?
