Which Brother printer did you but? Does it also fax, scan, and copy? I am not at all happy with the Epson that I bought to replace the failed HP 8600. So disappointed with this whole business. With so many people working from home, you would think that someone could get it right!

Yes has scanner, fax, printer all in one. Scanner very fast better then hp. Will send you the model tomorrow when I get to offoce. Hp always gave me problems with scanning, especially the 8400. 8600 was no better until they made the plus. Believe it or not, I just fixed my printer. I need one more to work on just to make sure it is a sure fix. After one year sitting in a box, pulled it out and fixed it. Will take to office tomorrow and put under real test.

Ok, I am getting the 'Ink cartridge failure.' and went to the steps you refer to. I did find the black cartridge leaking with ink spilling down into the carriage mechanism. Can I clean the area ( and what area is that) to try to get rid of the 'Ink cartridge failure?

I did get a new black and yellow cartridge, and the new cartridges still give the same error.

What is the fix?  I have an 8600+ that I  have put aside and bought a replacement laser for.  But feel like I am wasting it.   The carriage mechanism did have ink all over it, so i suspected it was a spill, but my attempts to clean it up didnt fix the error.  And I live in Canada, so not around Daytona most unfortunately with -20c weather 😞

So happy yours is working! Sorry but I am in PA. Any way you could walk me through the fix? You could make a bundle of money fixing all these lousy HPs!!

No, I don't live in Florida, but I certainly would like to know what your fix for this 'inkjet cartridge failure' was.

Can you please give us more information. I don't see it in this thread, but you may have explained it in another thread that I can't see.

The Use Guide of officejet pro 8600  says you can print in black only when one or more ink cartridges are empty. I cannot do this, the printer does not allow any printing. This was a basic condition for me to buy a printer. What can I do? I would like to get another printer instead of this one if this problem is unresolvable. I am not interest in buying any colour cartridges that I will not use.

Way to many steps to list and would take several pics.

So far no other problems. I think it's good for another year. Problem seems to apear after owning for one year, after warranty has exspired. Hum makes you wonder.

Well Shadow, being an ex-HP (retired) service engineer, I have worked through many printer problems. Unless you are intentionally trying to keep your steps private, I believe I (or we) can get the gist of what you did to resolve your ink cartridge problem with a few pointers.

Unfortunately, being retired from HP doesn't give me any higher access to support than the rest of you. And living in Utah, I can't see us actually getting together to see if your fix works.

I have spent over $60 on new cartriges the printer told me were bad, and still have the 'bad cartrigde' error. Love the printer, for the price, and really want to get it working again. I would be glad to give you my email of you are trying to keep it private.
